Right in the heart of Canterbury, Cafe Mauresque is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a fusion of southern Spanish and northern African cuisine. The restaurant on Butchery Lane is lit with lanterns and adorned with endearing, intriguing Moroccan-style decor. Cafe Mauresque offer indulgent menus for lunch as well dinner – think classics like tagines, couscous, paella and tapas – and there are also plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs. This is a unique and refreshing dining opportunity amongst the cobbles of Canterbury, hence the restaurant does fill up fast – best to reserve a table ahead of time.
I rate Cafe Mauresque as 4. The atmosphere was great with a real fire burning on a cold winter's day. Food was OK, vegetarean option was very good, service was quite slow considering the restaurant wasn't busy.
Great food with authentic ambience. Have come here with various groups of friends. Everyone has loved it. The tapas are just yummy and it's difficult to choose from the extensive menu. I'd like to try each one!!
Excellent food, helpful waitress and excellent wine pairing menu! Lovely ambiance. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Canterbury and want something a bit different.
