I first visited Caveau about 3 years ago as my Mum lives in Woolton and I looked on-line for somewhere nice to take her for lunch. We loved it and have visited many times since. The food is wonderful and the service is excellent. When I last visited we had to wait a little longer than usual for our dinner but that's the first time that's happened and it hasn't put us off. Great location, Great food, Great service and Great music (often lots of lovely Tamla Motown)!
Food was great, service not quite so good! Slow and inattentive even though it wasn't that busy for a Saturday night - slow with drinks refills
Great food, excellent service. A little expensive but still good value considering the quality. Pity there is no downstairs toilet but there's not much they can do about that. Will definitely return.
Took Hubby for Saturday lunch. Fab staff, fab food. Felt so welcome and every request catered for. Professional and friendly. Will definately be returning and recommending.
Excellent food and service. The staff were very friendly giving advice on menu choices and wines. Caveau is a very cosy welcoming restaurant. We shall certainly eat there again.
Went here on the recommendation of friends, it did not disappoint, everything went well, food service atmosphere. We had the steak, both done as requested, starters, prawns and scallops, both perfect.
I love this place. Lovely intimate candlelit atmosphere, fantastic menu- reasonably priced delicious food, nice service. Really excellent. We had the scallops, snails to start, followed by a wonderful ribeye.
Lovely food (especially the spicy parsnip soup) and great service in a beautifully presented room. A relxing way to while away a rainy Sunday lunchtime.
Enjoyed an anniversary treat. Service and quality of food superb. Look forward to trying other items on varied French menu. Price charged was good value.
Excellent service and food was delicious and reasonably priced too, everything was excellent! I will definitely be returning. Can't say enough to give this place justice!
Our first visit. We could not fault service or food. We will be returning. Would highly recommend. Liked to see the seating was well spaced apart as well.
A small expensive "French" restaurant in Woolton village. The food was superb but the service and lack of attention to detail let it down. A pricey French language menu with apparently lots of choices, however non of the lamb dishes were available. Paper tablecloths, staff who couldn't understand what was in the menu, we were disappointed. Not good.
Visited twice in 1 week as the 1st visit was a mega plus. On both occasions this was a lunchtime visit so we opted for the set price menu, as food was freshly cooked it did take little time so be prepared to have that 2nd bottle of wine. The meal was well worth the wait and was excellent, beautifully presented and extremely good value for money. Both lunchtime visits Thursday and Saturday were very quiet which suited us but if you want a busier atmosphere then I suspect the evenings would suit you better.
Good menu and fabulous food. The service was good. The tables are a little on the small side and close together but overall we enjoyed the experience.
Excellent food. Authentic french cuisine. Good service. Pleasant ambience. Great location in woolton with easy access and plentiful taxis. Will return on a regular basis.
Lovely meal and service. The only - negative is that we said when booked we would have a baby in a pram. But when arrived the lady said “I don’t know how you are going to get that down there” and wasn’t very helpful.
Food excellent and well presented in a lovely setting. However, the service could have been better and we were a little disappointed. That said, when mentioned a bottle of wine was taken off the bill as compensation.
Service friendly and professional. Food including my vegetarian dish was excellent. Scallops absolutely perfectly cooked. Great to have such a lovely french style restaurant in Liverpool
We had a lovely evening celebrating my birthday. The food was top class and the service and atmosphere excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.
Good food, pleasant staff but quite busy and waited too long between 1st and main courses
Great service, amazing food, lovely atmosphere and excellent wine. A lot better than our first date to Pizza Hut. I am such a lucky girl...
This place is a little Gem. Never fails to deliver excellent food both in quality and taste. Can be a little pricey for a mid week, no occasion visit, but it is always delicious and carefully prepared so worth the bit extra.
Disappointing food & dining experience. The welcome from staff on arrival was far from warm & friendly. Staff didn't take any real interest in us. Disappointing to be served supermarket french stick!!! Lamb was overcooked both 1st and 2nd time it was served. Shame, but won't be rushing back.
Absolutely gorgeous - we loved the stunning food, the beautiful surroundings (very romantic with candles lit and flowers on the tables) and lovely service. We enjoyed a perfect relaxing evening.
We chose from the a la carte menu, which I found to be rather expensive especially the starter. Overpriced I thought for what you get on the plate, putting that aside the main meal was delicious very nicely presented and worth the money, Ian my partner scooped up every morsel including the jus he said much to nice to be washed off. The desert we had was equally delicious. The drinks can be expensive we chose a bottle of red wine which we thought was more than we usually pay or have paid for that particular type at other restaurants. It would be to your advantage to book a table to avoid disappointment has it is popular and gets very busy, because of this occurrence you are more than likely to have a bit of a wait between course try to be patient has they do their best. The toilets are upstairs the restaurant has no disabled toilet, I am disabled so it took me quite some time before I reach the top of the stairs then the same coming back down, I was not asked if I needed any help by any of the staff either going up or coming back down. The Caveau decor is not being of french theme has would be expected but very plain all white no french features. Noise level all depends on who is on the next table.
As always the food is superb, steak cooked to perfection. Staff are warm and friendly. This is one of the best restaurants in Liverpool I always recommend.
The food at Caveau was absolutely delicious, well presented and a perfectly cooked steak. This was my first time eating here, but would definitely return. You do pay for the quality and the skill of the chef so not an every week dinner, but well worth a visit.
great little place , been a couple of times now , food service and cosy ambiance is excellent , and always a nice menu to choose from .
Presentation of food is beautiful as well as tasting lovely. Service excellent. A little expensive but definitely worth it. Would recommend and will return. very comfortable surroundings.
A lovely chic setting and warm environment. Delicious classic french cuisine and an excellent selection of French and new world wines. Very attentive and helpful service. Well worth a visit.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Staff very attentive and cheery, we were lay to leave! Will go again and recommend to friends. Not overpriced either. Great!
Amazing food, wonderful attentive staff, didn't have room for a desert so will definitely be going back, would highly recommend this lovely restaurant, a little gem in Woolton village 😀
Never disappoints! Lovely food and service is excellent along with great wine recommendations! The venison in particular and the sauce it was with was delicious!
really nice setting and good food staff were really friendly and did not push to get table back will return and recommend to all my friends
First class restaurant and first class food. Lovely interior with a nice atmosphere. Definitely will go again sometime. Car park close by we were told by a staff member. Our waitress was lovely.
We visited Caveau on Saturday night and found it to be a lovely little restaurant with very good service, ambiance and good food. We’re pleased to have a French restaurant in Woolton.
We really enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and the quality of the French themed dining. The food was rich in flavour, served well. The table d’ote menu was exceptional value and great quality. We enjoyed this restaurant, whilst preparing to fly out of Liverpool airport.
Nice restaurant in Woolton Village with a very traditional French Menu and a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is quite small but all the dishes we had were well presented and cooked excellently. Service is good too without being over fussy. Would defintley visit again.
We were disappointed with our visit and felt Caveau wasn't up to its usual standard. Front of house was a bit chaotic and the main waitress/manager was really down in the mouth and not welcoming in any way. (The other younger waitress was delightful, smiley and warm). Little things like we were seated in front of the fire escape exit and it was nigh impossible to get out from our table when the meal was finished. No one took any notice of that fact or offered to help by moving the furniture. One set of flowers and a candle were suddenly whisked off our table with no explanation or apology.... maybe they were short staffed, but a bit of warmth and friendliness would have gone along way to make up for that. The food was delicious, but the portion sizes were exceedingly small - more so than ever before. Not sure how soon we would go back.
Excellent service and superb quality of food and menu. The staff staff are very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We would strongly recommend.
