Service was very slow, drinks order was forgotten and had to be chased up. Each step had to be chased. We had to ask for the dessert menu then again chase for the bill Too slow, we were not in a hurry but the service was bad The food was good

An outstanding meal, but then it almost always is. We go several times a month. Must be the best Côte in the country. The upstairs room with its view over the cathedral is as good as it gets. Food, wine and coffee were all brilliant. I particularly like the monthly specials, like the excellent crab bisque today. The service was good, though the waiter was new and not yet up to speed with the menu.

Disappointingly we waited a little while to be seated and our waiter wasn’t aware of the birthday aperitif offer we had booked with. The food and service however was great.

Good service, tasty food and a pleasant laid back atmosphere, booked a table online so we received free Blood Orange Martini's which were very much enjoyed.

I enjoyed a delicious lunch and coffee with a friend in Exeter, including the bonus of a complimentary Kir Royale for my birthday.

Felt very rushed, squeezed into a table next to a table of 6 and a wall. Some of my duck wasn’t cooked at all, didn’t mention it because we wanted to leave. My girlfriends pork belly was really good though

As always excellent food, with a fabulous view and super friendly service. We had the early bird menu which is really good value for money.

My husband and I always enjoy our Cote experience in Exeter. We visit just once a year and the high standard is always upheld. The food is always of the best quality, delicious, well presented and the set menu before 7pm is extremely good value. Cote always provides just the right authentic “French” atmosphere, well done Cote! The staff are also very attentive, friendly & very welcoming.

Hello as a regular visitor to Cote in Exeter and Bath, I have to say that yesterdays visit to Exeter was not up to its usual standard. I visited on Fri 8th March and tried your Monkfish special which was superb. So I ordered the same thing yesterday but the monkfish was not as fresh and slightly overcooked, the bacon surrounding it was overcooked and salty. The mushroom sauce with it was very bland, but last time it was perfect. My partner had the lamb rump but both of our dishes were on the small side and he went away still hungry. for some reason at the start of our drinks, empty water jug and other glasses and our starter plates were never cleared from our table. It wasnt until we had started top eat our main meal that it was finally cleaned. Very unusually disappointing. thank you Gina

As usual at lunchtime overall atmosphere busy but very pleasant at a table for three. Initial service a little slow but efficient throughout. Food well presented and very acceptable in terms of quantity and quality, although the mains pan-fried chicken was rather dry and perhaps a little overcooked. Plenty of water available and drinks ordered OK but the rose wine could have been further chilled. Cote is a place which encourages you to take your time. Staff are courteous and to prove it one of the staff followed us outside to with a forgotten pair of sunglasses. Thank you.

The food was excellent. The service was good but there were not enough waiting staff. My husband had to re choose his starter as it wasn’t available. He chose calamari but choosing in haste, didn’t realise it came with tartar sauce which he can’t eat. He wanted to ask for plain mayo but we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. The potatoes never arrived with my main course, again there was no staff around to ask. Cheese board was fine. When we asked for the bill it took 20 mins to arrive, then after a further 10 mins waiting to pay, I had to go downstairs to pay on our way out. The they had taken my main course & the cheese off the bill (for the service issue) which was a nice gesture but then added the service charge on! Great food, good staff but not enough. Don’t think we’ll go back - shame.

Very busy so a little lacking in good service. Two choices of meal unavailable. Offered a free cocktail as compensation which was nice. Overall good but service standards brought down rating.

We were greeted by delightful friendly staff on entering . The service and food were both excellent. This restaurant is just wonderful for its food and ambiance.

Nice food and friendly service Location next to cathedral is great and lovely to sit outside on a sunny day. We had lunch but breakfasts looked yummy too.

Overall a lovely evening. A great meal, especially the Breton chicken. However we only gave five stars due to the chaotic start. We had booked a table for seven pm and had not expected to have to queue up for ten minutes to get a table. We mentioned that we had booked in advance and were told that all the people in the queue had also booked tables. However a group of people in front of us told the member of staff that they had not booked and were taken straight to a table! A very strange way of doing things! That said, the rest of the evening was lovely.

Lovely food, excellent service by friendly staff, and a really good vibe any time we have visited. Can see why this restaurant is so busy. They also have a good selection of Aperitifs and wines.

The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, great choice of wine and very attentive and professional service from every member of the team - we will be back soon.

This is no criticism of them, who were doing their very best with simply too much to keep on top of. There is clearly a management issue to look at here. The staff were not supported nor sufficient in number to maintain the usual standards.

Excellent as always Breton fish stew is wonderful. Please please please could you open a cote brasserie in Taunton. Eating places in TauntonEnter on are rubbish.

Excellent service and good fresh food plus extensive gluten free menu. There were five of us and everyone’s food came out of the kitchen together and no dishes were overcooked by keeping warm- as have experienced in some other restaurants. The ambience upstairs at Cotes Exeter is particularly good - spacious and comfortable with well placed seating. Our waiter was attentive, but unobtrusive.

This is an amazing restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful explaining dishes if needed or trying to accommodate any allergy. The food itself never fails to impress absolutely every dish is superb and I think I may have tried everything on the menu by now. The view and ambiance wonderful. The price, well you get what you pay for and I think it’s worth every penny.

A lovely family outing for valentines day. Nice food and excellent service. The children were very welcome as always and the small error with their meal was rectified promptly with their steaks cooked from fresh as the first ones were served with butter on.
