Went for lunch with my family today. And we have been coming to Coates in Salisbury for years well since it opened. And have always had a fantastic meal and service. But that last couple of times we have been the food has been good but the service has been awfull. We where sat on a table that had not been made up, and then had to ask for knives and folks for our startes. And was given steak knives and was told they had run out of normal knives. But when our main came we had normal knives even tho we were eating steak. When asked if we could order more drinks we where told in and irritated voice that she would a minute. When she finally came over she took so long getting our drinks we had finished our meals. It’s a shame as never had a bad experience there till know

Good food and friendly atmosphere but staff a bit too rushed to converse properly with although it was lunch time. Still felt our waiter could have been a bit more friendly. Overall we are always happy to visit Côte in Salisbury.

Lovely meal and good service but watch it when you get the bill as 12.5% gratuity automatically added but which is actually optional. We opted to pay the 'actual' food bill plus our own choice of tip. It would be easy to pay 12.5% without noticing as they put this total in larger type than the 'actual' food bill total (without gratuity added) which is lower down on your bill and in smaller type.

Very good and thoughtful service. I have no complaints even though we didn't order very much because we were going to our sister's memorial service at St Thomas's church next door and didn't feel very hungry, we were not hassled in any way. Thank you

As is always the case, Cote Salisbury provides a very enjoyable dining experience, with good food, very reasonably priced and a pleasant atmosphere. Not so full this evening, possibly due to the current freezing conditions on the roads.Staff are excellent and friendly. Consistently the best of the Côtés we visit- and all have been good.

Staff numbers are too low. Since the restaurant opened the time taken to have the same meal has increased by 45%. Staff are now running around to try and cope with customers. We have been eating at Cote Salisbury 15 times a year or so but now we are considering to give it a miss- not an enjoyable experience any more. As we go out every week for lunch somewhere in the environs we shall be sorry to find another venue because of greed of management at Cote Head Office.

We enjoyed the food but the service really let it down - we waited half an hour before drinks arrived, the waitress was lukewarm and communication was extremely difficult (not assisted by the volume in the restaurant), the main courses arrived before the starters were finished but were then taken back to the kitchen because they contained sauces we hadn’t ordered, only to return five minutes later still with the sauces, which ended up being charged to us on the bill... very poor.

We eat quite often at Cote and really enjoy it. However today we had allowed 1hr 20mins for a two course meal prior to going to the theatre. The order was taken fairly promptly and the first course arrived within 10 minutes but the main course then took 40 minutes after the first course had been tidied up. As a result we had to have coffee at the same time as the main course and didn't have time to enjoy the meal or indeed finish it. I nearly removed the 12.5% gratuity which is built in to the bill but we didn't have time and it would not have been fair on the waitress as the delay wasn't her fault.

Unfortunately we got off to a slow start waiting for 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken but once that was done the rest of the experience was up to its usual high standard. The complimentary rhubarb martini was delicious, even my husband thought so to my despair as I normally get his cocktail as well. The scallop starter was divine and a generous portion size and the steak tartare never fails to deliver. The special lamb chop main was again delicious, cooked perfectly pink and the roquefort butter not being too overpowering. The herby poussin dish was one of the most tastiest chicken dishes my husband had ever had. Another excellent meal. I would like to note that the staff seemed to be a bit under pressure and on occasions practically running around which does spoil the dining experience slightly.

We were lucky to be looked after by the now expert Daniel Morgan. It is always worth starting with a Kir Royale - a very French thing to do and for a change my wife and I had the same things to eat up to the desert. The smoked salmon here is beautifully presented and garnished with diced shallot, a good dressing of creme fraiche, capers and dill and served with toasted sour dough bread. Absolutely delicious. This month's special main courses include a 14 ounce chateaubriand for 2 at £19.50 per head. A lovely char-grilled piece of fillet is served medium rare on a bed of caramelised red onions accompanied by a good portion of frites and bearnaise sauce. This is exceptional value for these well prepared dishes and was also delicious. The house Merlot by the glass matched very well with the steak. Disaster of disasters - the best creme caramels in the universe are so good that they had sold out and also earlier diners had also polished off the creme brulees - how dare they!!! Never mind you can't beat the Tarte Fine Aux Pommes with an accompanying "boule" of vanilla ice cream, and my wife was delighted with her Coupe Noire. Another fantastic meal at Cote Salisbury where the whole team excel themselves every time. Daniel beware - you might get head hunted by the Ritz.

After we ordered a waiter filled 6 buckets with ice ,3 were right next to our table and with the noise we could not hear one another. A professional considerate waiter would have taken each bucket to the ice machine. Eventually our breakfasts arrived and we had to ask where are drinks were. We were told they were on the way! We asked again but another waiter and the hot drinks arrived when we were half way through our breakfasts and then the fruit juices arrived. There was no apology forthcoming. My husband spoke to someone when we were leaving and they did apologise but felt it was to late. We would not have left a tip with the service we received but it’s included. I have worked in this industry myself and expect better service and glasses to be cleaned and dried correctly. Sadly a disappointing experience.

Very poor experience for people with limited mobility. My party included my husband who has recently had foot surgery. He is only allowed, on medical advice, to partially weight bear on his foot and is on two crutches. I went in to Cote well ahead of our meal and negotiated that we could reserve Table 17 - the only table big enough, that has level access. When we arrived at the restaurant we found that the table had been given to another customer and my husband had to struggle up a large step to the table that had been allocated to us. I was very upset that my request had been totally ignored and my husband had been forced into a difficult situation.

Once again our enjoyment of a special meal was ruined by a combination of absurd poor judgement, a couldn't care less attitude and virtually being accused of lying. We were there to celebrate the upcoming 21st Birthday of our Grand Daughter. When ordering wine she was refused because she did not have ID to prove her age. As I understand the law , a 16 or 17 year old may take wine when accompanied by an adult. Our Grand Daughter is almost 21 , towers over me at about 5ft 9 and looks more mature than either the waitress or the female manager. It's not even a close call. When my wife and I tried to explain this to the manager we were dismissed with a shrug of the shoulders. I asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill. I object in the strongest possible terms at effectively being accused of being dishonest. I really have to wonder where you get your staff and how they think a customer should be treated. I understand the law , equally as an ex employer I understand there are times when a judgement call might need to be made. This was not even close. We were insulted and will not be returning.
