It's always hard to write, as an amateur, a review without sounding, "phoney". But, I'll try. Friends, family and I have been coming to Cote for years we have never had cause to complain. If I have commented on anything, and it was just a comment, whatever it was, was resolved immediately, with a smile and without any fuss. That's the way they do things! The food is ALWAYS excellent, the staff are ALWAYS excellent and the price is ALWAYS realistic. Cote, is the ONLY restaurant in Brighton which I would heartily recommend without worrying, they may have an "off night"...they never have and I doubt they ever will.

Another lovely meal at Cote Brighton, just right before going to The Theatre Royal. Great atmosphere service and of course the food. See you again soon.
Lovely chicken, not dry and very tasty. Crab salad a little disappointing, it was a bit mushy - the mix could have been separately served for a better eating experience
Disappointed that window seat booked well in advance was GONE!
Great place lovely food great atmosphere would recommend cote for a lovely meal
Great place lovely food great atmosphere would recommend cote for a lovely meal
Great service, great food, great price all around great time. Had an amazing lunch for our Mother’s Day celebrations would definitely recommend going her to anyone!!
Food was on the whole nice but expensive for portion sizes. Service was good. Place was crowded but was a Friday night. Drinks also v expensive
My wife and I decided on the Valentine menu, smoked salmon, prawn gratine, and fillet steaks finished off with the hazelnut and grand mariner truffles for two. We both agreed this was the best meal we have had in Cote, and we have had quite a few over the years. The only downside was no complimentary glass of Kia Royal which was included on last years menu.
Up to Cote Brighton’s usual standard, excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent food at a good price. We go to lots of shows at the dome theatre and it’s great to have such a lovely restaurant just across the road. We’d still visit if it was further away though!
We had a lovely evening relaxing in a wonderful restaurant ... It was very good value and wonderful service. the food was amazing and a good choice...highly recommend
We came here for breakfast which was fantastic and Stella the waitress was so attentive and polite. We then decided later that day that as we had had such a lovely breakfast we would come back for dinner. We where served by Zoe and she was so nice and polite and we where also looked after by Stella again who with Zoe made the whole experance a very memorable one and the food was absolutely fantastic and so was the service. The chef was kind enough to make a portion of mushrooms to go with the stake after being asked by the lady’s. All in all we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Côte to anyone looking for good food with great service. Well done.
Excellent meal and service. We were both very impressed with the whole experience.
Very good food and excellent professional service, a very nice experience .
We enjoyed our meal and found the ambience agreeable, the service attentive and considerate (despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy) and the value for money good.
Waitress was friendly and helpful. However, only one member of staff serving entire upstairs. Food was good. Restaurant was chilly! Had it been 2 or 3 degrees warmer I would have given more stars.
Great food, served in good time by attentive and friendly staff.
Visited the Brighton restaurant on 6th April. Seated promptly by hostess. Fantastic waiter who was attentive and charismatic. Food was excellent, especially the sirloin, cooked perfectly. Plates cleared promptly, wasn't kept waiting at any point. Staff all worked seamlessly with each other. Couldn't fault the experience. Overall service and food was fantastic
Service was not good . We had to ask twice for our second bottle of wine . Several dishes were not available . Not offered coffees , etc and had to ask twice for the bill - Very disappointed x
Great decor and atmosphere, lovely staff but set menu was bland.
Had a lovely evening at Cote Brighton. Staff We're very friendly, good food and excellent service. Would highly recomend. Good location if you are going to The Dome after.
We had relatives visiting and wanted somewhere smart but not too expensive for lunch. Also somewhere I could book at short notice. They were quite impressed, we all ate from the lunch time menu and everyone seemed happy with their food. I had the Sea Bream or something similar which was a little small and need something more substantial to go with it, then again I was having 3 courses so... Shepherds Pie seemed to go down well but it looked rather boring in its rectangular dish
A thoroughly enjoyable meal at Côte. French onion soup was tasty and delicious, the pork tenderloin was cooked to perfection and I was so full couldn’t manage a dessert. Service was good and will return.
Arrived before 18.00 we were told we would be eating upstairs, as I have severe arthritis in the knees I told her I would unable to she said their was nothing ground floor and I should have stated that. I have been to Côte before on numerous occasions and have never asked to go upstairs or it to be open upstairs so we went to Carluccios and had a superb meal.
We were made to feel very welcome and my mum’s birthday was acknowledged on arrival which was lovely. A very enjoyable meal and attentive staff .

Lovely atmosphere, great food and wonderful service. Always good value for money and such good wine! There was a little wait for the drinks but it was an incredibly busy Saturday night.
Friendly and efficient service; good food. Didn’t have to wait long which was good as we had a hungry toddler with us.
We came for out anniversary on Saturday 23rd March. It was very busy but the staff were amazing and food delicious. We will definitely be back.
Menu is always full of lots of choice that makes me want to come back again and again. I always end my meal with my favourite - creme caramel
Fabulous food and service as usual. Had the complimentary blood orange martinis, my mum wasn’t keen on this drink, the manager said try a sip and if you don’t like have a kit royal instead. This extra mile of service was much appreciated. Well done and thank you.
Poor menu choices for starters and nibbles. Service slow and gin menu very limited.
Great ambience, cocktail , food and service, Cote is always a winner
We are new to Brighton and have added Cote Brassiere to our list of regular favorites that we enjoy going to for great lunches. The food is very good, the service is friendly and responsive, and the atmosphere is one of a busy, but easygoing, relaxed cafe.
Superb food, service and building. A little bit of France in Brighton
Enjoyable experience with complimentary bottle of wine through Saga/Cote collaboration, and a birthday dessert Five stars tonight
Everyone enjoyed their starters, the crab mayonnaise being a highlight for me, delicious! We enjoyed red and rose wine at the table (there were 7 of us), the pink sancerre is an old favourite of ours and we order it every time we come to Côte. I have to say that whilst my Veal was perfect, two of my friends ordered the beef bourguignon and it looked very dry on arrival. They asked for extra sauce each and after 5 minutes a tiny ramekin of it turned up for them to share! I would have expected this dish to be swimming in luscious dark sauce! All I. All we have a great time and service was spot on as usual. Thank you
My wife and I frequent Cote Brighton more than any other restaurant in the area. This is down to the excellent food and wine choices, good service and value for money. A great atmosphere and the outside courtyard is brilliant.
Another wonderful experience at Cote, one of our favourites were ever go
As always we enjoyed our meal at Côte in Brighton the food is very good and the selection is always very varied, the wine selection is also good
Dear Sirs It is with regret that the service my wife and I received was poor. on arrival we were shown to our table and the evening appeared to be starting well. Our first course followed which was enjoyable and it was from this point on that the evening went regrettably down hill. We noted that the table next to ours had received their main course even though they had arrived some 30 minutes after we had. My wife's meal followed after some time without mine. When her meal was delivered the manager then had to ask me "what had I ordered as there was a mix up in the kitchen even though it was him that took the order in the first place. My wife then asked whether the fries could be re-heated as they were very cold. The manager then took away her fries and then left her the plate of food to go cold instead of taking it back to the kitchen. At this point I was still without my main course. He shortly returned with the fries heated and I was then told that "there had been a mix up in the kitchen and my meal would arrive shortly, which it did although some 15 minutes had now gone by and the birthday dinner was now ruined. I have to say that this is not the first, second or even third time that this has happened to us and only last year our anniversary was again ruined by very poor service which resulted in Cotes sending me a £100.00 voucher. Talking to friends this now appears to be common practice in Cote's in that when friends arrive for dinner one person is left out and has to wait for their food whilst everyone else is eating theirs. It is so common in fact that our close friend who drove us to Cote's had been in with five friends for lunch and again one of them was forgotten and had to eat her meal on her own as by the time hers arrived everyone else had finished. The other issue that appears to be very common is 'cold food'. It does strike me as quite odd in that we observed the food being brought up from the kitchen and the guy then standing around for many minutes waiting for a manager to deliver the food to the table. We observed in one case a wait of 6 minute for the manager to take the food to the table, and yet again a short while later the table complained that their food was cold and had to be taken back to the kitchen. What is a worrying trend for Cote's is that the same mistakes appear to be happening time and time again and no one is actually getting to grips with the problem. That said our waiter was "absolutely fabulous" however regrettably we did not manage to take his name, although we know he is from Porto in Portugal and dealt with our issues in an extremely efficient professional way. Our opinion of the management (and other regulars feel the it to) is not the same. They appear cold, aloof and when the wheels are coming off they are no where to be seen and stand by the bar and let the floor staff deal with the issues even though they are the ones taking the orders and then not supporting the waiters and waitresses. Yes we are very disappointed in that for the fourth time Cote's have let us down on an important day be it, birthdays, anniversaries or graduations and regrettably it will be while before we return.
Front of house was absolutely useless apart from directing people to their seats. She didn't know how to direct staff. We sat outside which was very busy because of the weather with only 2 staff. We waited ages for our drinks. People arriving after us got their drinks first.. the same with our food. I watched 3 groups of people leave. I only left a tip because the girl who served us seemed to be the only one working. I hate to see this injustice in the work place. When we were leaving walking through the restaurant this front of house person was standing around with at least 4 members of staff just talking and we were ignored as we left as if we were an inconvenience. I expect a lot of your diners felt the same. A little bit of staff training would not go a miss or perhaps someone who knows what they are doing. I would never visit your restaurant again. I hope the girl who served us does get her tip as it was well deserved.
Just perfect experience...meeting up with old friends and having a fabulous meal with fabulous service
Fabulous staff! Great atmosphere. Good food. Happy to recommend. Great Brighton restaurant for all events and occasions. Great decor. Everyone in my party happy with experience.
Atmosphere was very good and the staff were so polite and attentive. We enjoyed the night. Thank you
Fabulous dining experience. All staff are attentive without being intrusive. Drinks and food were delicious as always.
We have dined many times at Cote and whether as a couple or with a group of friends we have always enjoyed ourselves. Last evening was no exception - the atmosphere was lively, the service was impeccable and the food was delicious as usual.
Excellent service and delicious food, as always at Cote. Lovely atmosphere as this restaurant is always busy. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
My friend and I enjoyed an excellent meal today at Cote, the service was helpful and polite , the food, duck breast and beef bourgignon were both delicious and perfectly cooked.
The welcome staff were very good and made us feel welcome. The starters were very good, both mains were cold and the service was very bad. Could never get any staffs attention as they were too interested in serving the larger parties. First time I have ever asked not to pay the service charge. This was a meal for a special occasion and was seriously let down.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and wine, excellent service from cheerful and attentive staff in well laid out surroundings. Only draw back for us ........ no draught beer! Would still return.
Welcomed at the door and given a table upstairs as we requested. Our server was attentive and personable and we ordered glasses of Sancerre and starters. The wine was as lovely as ever and the first course delicious as usual. From then on it went bizarrely downhill. We usually order the Lagarde Pinot Noir with the fish course. A couple of glasses arrived with opaque red wine which had no resemblance in look, texture or taste to the wine we had ordered countless times before in Cote restaurants around the country for the last ten plus years. We were offered a Merlot instead but that seemed to be the same wine as before. To add insult to injury my fish was severely over-cooked. The fish was swiftly replaced and we went back to the Sancerre....bemused!! So, Richard and Nick, what the Grenache is going on?? Good food but a 400% mark-up on the wines means the experience is diminished overall. Carlucchios much better value for money as wine is not a rip-off.
