Côte Brighton restaurant

It's always hard to write, as an amateur, a review without sounding, "phoney". But, I'll try. Friends, family and I have been coming to Cote for years we have never had cause to complain. If I have commented on anything, and it was just a comment, whatever it was, was resolved immediately, with a smile and without any fuss. That's the way they do things! The food is ALWAYS excellent, the staff are ALWAYS excellent and the price is ALWAYS realistic. Cote, is the ONLY restaurant in Brighton which I would heartily recommend without worrying, they may have an "off night"...they never have and I doubt they ever will.

Lovely chicken, not dry and very tasty. Crab salad a little disappointing, it was a bit mushy - the mix could have been separately served for a better eating experience

Bland menu. Food average, my soup was served tepid but was relaxed quickly. Atmosphere spoilt by a rowdy crowd of very drunk men on the next table. Staff attentive and service generally good.

Service first.class staff all very professional with good personalities.Menus excellent, something for everyone & reasonably priced. The Brighton premises are excellent It was the .Brighton Music Library before becoming Cote

Food good. Menu extensive. Some anxiety over placing our order and being finished in time for show but all worked fine. Did though have several members of the group going on about this. A visit by the server early on to advise reassure us that mindful of our time constraints etc would have helped plus getting the drinks in, but hey easy to say. It was a busy night and they did great at getting nine meals out together and all very edible for value fir money price. Except wine: but excessive in terms of charging .

Although we have had many delicious meals at Côte tonights was quite bland and we would have had a pudding but 15minuites to clear the plates tipped us over and we just wanted the bill.

Excellent food. Loved the March special aperitif. Service good, but think may have been ‘ change over period’ as had to ask for extra water twice.

As always a perfect meal and ambiance at Brighton with the usual exceptional service. Thank you!

Good atmosphere, excellent service and good menu. Good choice of three menus. Pleasant staff. Normal noise levels probably due to no loud music which causes people to shout at each other.

Excellent service by the staff. They were all very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was well presented and tasty. My husband had the calamari and said that they were better than any he had eaten in Greece. The cost of the meal and drinks was very fairly priced. We will certainly come and eat with you again when we are in Brighton.

Buzzing with customers and a great atmosphere. Staff very welcoming and efficient. Food and wine fabulous. I had Fish Stew and it was jam packed with fish, prawns, mussels, clams, fish & potatoes. YUM!

Another pleasant evening spent in Cote, Brighton. We were given complementary Rhubarb Martini drinks. Our waiter Joaquim was attentive, polite and accommodating. We couldn’t fault the food and atmosphere.

Great location, excellent service and well presented, tasty food at reasonable price. Busy, but not too packed in. Pleasant atmosphere.

Service slow, food not up to the usual standard, luke warm calamari and side orders. Chicken good though. Saving grace was the positive way our comments were dealt with.

Surprisingly service was slower than expected. Our waitress seemed to have more than her fair share to do, although there were apparently plenty of staff around. Also we were a little disappointed that the kids’ menu was so short with no sweets!

Another lovely meal here overall. I come several times a year. However docking a star because we came on this occasion to take advantage of a free bottle of wine offer - a Sauvignon Blanc or a Syrah. On ordering the wine and asking for the SB the waitress told us No - the offer is Chardonnay or Merlot. Don't like Chardonnay so reluctantly (as having fish and chicken) ordered a red wine. She then came back and said you can have the SB if you really want, as if doing us a favour....? All a bit odd. Perhaps staff need reminding of what the deals are. She then quipped, when asking us to taste the wine, how it'd be strange to send back free wine - a little unnecessary. Anyway no big deal really, food and service was good as usual.

I do feel that the attention to detail has slipped over the last year or so. This week the peas/veg with fish were cold. Then second visit Breton chicken I though was tasteless and the Diaphanous potatoes dish was sloppy, not browned off on top,, the green beans undercooked and I like al dente veg but these were more for in a salad But as always charming waitressWaiters

Normally very good, unfortunately today not so good. We were a group of 8 and 2 ordered Cod for their mains and about an hour after ordering they were told there was no Cod left and offered Salmon instead. Overall the restaurant was busy, however we waited nearly 35 minutes for starters and about an hour for mains. Staff were friendly and polite and the food was go, just a couple of issues with timing and availability of requested food. Thanks

The menu always has something delicious no matter how many times I visit. I have been visiting for years with a wide range of friends and relations. The staff let me sit and talk and never push to get rid of me...though when very busy I try not to take advantage. All the staff are lovely and seem to work well as a team. Great atmosphere!

Always a warm greeting - I notice several of the lunchtime 'regulars' are greeted by name and made particularly welcome. Great customer service which makes the Brighton Cote very special. All ages are welcome here and the atmosphere becomes one of a very inclusive and warm family. Its great when there are parties of 'suits', young families, and lovely couples all relaxed and happy here. I have been a regular visitor over a number of years and have never been let down or disappointed. Maggie G

We always enjoy our evenings in Cote Brasserie and last night was no exception. There is always a buzz of people enjoying themselves, it is always busy but the exceptionally professional and charming staff ensure you are served quickly no matter how full they are. The meal last night was delish - especially the Creme Caramel which was the best I have ever had. It is our favourite chain and think they keep the standards very high. One of our group had to send her chicken back as it was raw in the middle. This was replaced with another meal which was satisfactory but it shouldn't have happened. While the pate and charcuterie was excellent, the sardine starter proved extremely small. However, the service was excellent.

Food was delicious as usual - the choice is always excellent. We also had Saint Germaine gin and tonics that were delicious. All staff encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. Lovely experience as usual.

Staff really made our evening special. We got a window table & they put a Birthday balloon on the table & brought the cake out that I’d bought in. Waiter was really lovely 😊

Always beautifully presented and professionally served French cuisine at a restaurant I revisit time and time again. You can’t beat it.

Excellent consistent food and service. My ‘go to’ restaurant when in Brighton.

It was quite easy than normal and the food was delivered quickly. Most of the mains were fine in our party of 4,, however, I had the haddock special and it was very over cooked and dry. The special side of potatoes, bacon lardons and onions was also seriously over cooked and tasted like it had been deep-fried in old oil.

A very pleasant meal in unusual surroundings. Lovely staff but service was rather slow - but it was lunchtime and busy!

We went here for a work evening and the whole experience was lovely. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was lovely and the food was delicous. Would defintely recommend.
