The staff are pleasant and helpful. There was a longer wait than normal for our first drinks. The food was very good with plenty of it. An enjoyable meal

Cote is consistently reliable good professionally served. It's the only chain that manages to avoid the feeling of being a chain.

Yet again another disappointing experience at Cote Brighton. My salmon was cold and my friend's risotto was so overcooked it was basically mush. The server took one of the meals and some of the drinks off the bill but unfortunately, this being the second time this has happened in recent weeks, this restaurant has now fallen off our list of places to take our clients.

Jules, Nu Nu and all the staff treat us like family whenever I meet my friend for our regular catch up lunch! Nothing is too much trouble and the menu is always such good value. Thank you. Suzi (Alternative Ageing)

The overall experience was good, service as always excellent and ambience great. Our pan roasted pork tenderloins were excellent, being both tasty and tender, extra jus provided on request with no quibbles. The side of creamed spinach was rejected as it had an overpowering (bewildering) flavour of aniseed and the two flavours just did not gel. I liked my gratin potatoes but my husband found them too cheesy. However, the worst thing was that we did not enjoy the free bottle of wine at all. It was as thin and nasty a bottle of plonk as we've had the misfortune to experience. If you are going to offer something "free", make it worth having otherwise it feels like a come on to get you through the door. Very short-sighted of whoever is in charge of buying. You can get a half decent bottle of wine from your local supermarket for not very much; you don't expect a French restaurant to offer such a poor quality wine. We didn't say anything at the time as we would have been embarrassed about complaining, but perhaps we should have overcome our feelings.

Table wasn’t set when we sat down and it took a good ten minutes before the waitress came to do it. Then we had to ask for water, salt and pepper. Service is normally v good there so this was disappointing. Fish parmentier was very dry. Staff missed a trick by not suggesting any side orders or coming back to see if we wanted more drinks. Very noisy upstairs and down. Overall, not great.

For the second time the service in this otherwise really impressive restaurant was not very good, in fact slightly chaotic. The staff seemed to be not controlling their stations and things were last minute meaning it was a bit stressful thinking a nice smooth enjoyable evening was not happening. For the first time at Cote we didn't tip

Very long wait and our main course came to the table before our starters. Taken away over an hour wait fir our starters and then another hour for our main course and even then only because we asked were our food was:

Normally we have an amazing meal but tonight the food was not great. I had the mushroom risotto which had no taste and was so gloopy I had to pour my drinking water into it to loosen it up to make it edible. A real let down considering we spent over £100

A pre-theatre meal which ticked the box in every way - good food in a convivial atmosphere, served promptly and excellent value. One diner was gluten-free and was particularly impressed with her food and separate processes applied too the preparation and serving of Cote's gluten-free menu.

Up to Cote Brighton’s usual standard, excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent food at a good price. We go to lots of shows at the dome theatre and it’s great to have such a lovely restaurant just across the road. We’d still visit if it was further away though!

I seldom give full star ratings but I have to say that the salmon dish that I had was delicious, a very tasy dish. The staff were friendly and efficient. I had not been for some time so was very pleasantly suprised. Will go again.

Being that it’s festival time in Brighton and Bank Holiday weekend, Cote was packed Saturday night. Despite having booked a table at the first available time 8:15pm our show finished early. No problem, we were seated at 7:30pm. We had to wait a bit longer than usual for our mains, consequently we were given an additional 2 rhubarb martini’s to go with the ones we had on arrival. Amazingly our bill was also reduced by 50% due to our wait. Cote never fails to deliver.

Unusually poor experience this time. We go to this restaurant regularly and the staff know us. That probably helped, but we were still very disconcerted when our main courses took about half an hour to arrive after our plates had been cleared from the starter. Lots of people who arrived and ordered after us were served well ahead of us. If we hadn't had such a good relationship with our waiter I suspect we'd still be waiting- he took the initiative and went downstairs to investigate. Apparently there was some problem in the kitchen but they didn't elaborate on that. We were pleased that the management compensated us in part; they took the cost of our desserts off the bill. Very good boudin noir starter; duck main course up to scratch, but the fish provencale could have done with a few more minutes in the oven. They were probably trying to make sure we got our food in time to go over the road to the Dome for the Brighton Philharmonic concert.

I've eaten at Cote in Brighton on many occasions,& have always enjoyed it,but tonight was possibly the best overall experience I've ever had there...I'm on your mailing list,so we took advantage of your complimentary cocktail offer when dining from the A la Carte menu...I'm not a big fan of cocktails, but all four of us really enjoyed our Blood Orange Martinis, absolutely delicious!...Great service from a friendly, helpful, patient and knowledgeable waitress, who answered all of our questions and offered some great advice and suggestions...All the food we ordered was delicious, possibly the best creme caramel I've ever eaten,& I'm an ex chef who used to make them!...

We had relatives visiting and wanted somewhere smart but not too expensive for lunch. Also somewhere I could book at short notice. They were quite impressed, we all ate from the lunch time menu and everyone seemed happy with their food. I had the Sea Bream or something similar which was a little small and need something more substantial to go with it, then again I was having 3 courses so... Shepherds Pie seemed to go down well but it looked rather boring in its rectangular dish

A regular at Cote always with a group of friends. Food is always superb. Staff very friendly and as our main course was delayed, they were honest, apologised and offered a gesture of good will. Really can’t ask for anymore. Thanks for a great evening. We shall be back. Our waiter was superb too. Also have a disabled toilet on the ground floor, wish all restaurants did. Super.

Excellent in almost every way but for the first time in many visits the food disappointed me. The mussels were cold and the sauce had all sunk to the bottom of the dish, suggesting that the dish had been sitting for too long after being cooked.

I had booked a table for five two weeks earlier so was a bit disappointed when our visit seemed to catch them by surprise ie: staff were not sure where the table was as there wasn’t one prepared. They had to rearrange a few tables to accommodate us. That said, the choice of food and the quality did not disappoint.

Food was great. Some confusion over which menu we could choose from as after 7pm. Sign outside said certain menu till closing, told same on seating, and then differently from waiter. Pointed out that outside board & seating person told us menu was available. Resolved but “wrong” menu board was still outside on departure.

As usual, a very happy experience at Brighton Cote which we visited after a performance of the Brighton Philharmonic. The menu is always appealing and the standard of service very high with friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious. We three had different dishes, fish duck and tuna and all were perfectly cooked. My sister who is visiting from the US always enjoys a visit to Cote when she is here and was not disappointed on this occasion. This was one of many visits to Cote and we have always found the same very high standard.

We have been coming to Cote in Brighton since it opened and before it became a chain! We like the menu the ambience and the staff are always very professional, BUT yes you knew there was a but coming, the food is poor at best, all four of our mains were dry and over cooked, the pink duck, had be dried under heat lamps after sliced, the beef look more like pork it was so pale and tasteless the chicken was dry with inadequate "ju" was like dried up gravy. The food has got worse (particularly the main dishes) over the years, we keep coming hoping that it will improve! You need to look right through your processes, from supply chain meat quality, to cooking (pay decent chefs) and then importantly speed of service once food is cooked. For a French brasserie, you should at least be able to do reliable steak, but sadly no! Staff do their best to repair and take the charge for dishes off the menu, but we don't come out to dinner to get free meal, we come out for an experience with BETTER (or at least as good) food than we can cook at home! Its such a shame because you have the venue and the FOH staff, you just MUST get the food right!!
