Awful service. Drink served after pudding hard to get anyone's attention making it difficult to place order and pay before movie started. Did not give choice of ice creams and did not bring one of the drinks out at all so we left it
Service was OK, but not brilliant given that the restaurant was mostly empty. Prices decent, desserts were lovely. To improve this score, they need to (a) ensure that all ingredients are available (or at least make sure that the wait staff know what isn't) and (b) try to serve a party together - there were six of us, and the first one to be served was finished before the last one had their dessert. The slightly long wait time and having to chop and change what I'd ordered didn't quite spoil the lovely desserts
When I turned up with my family I was told I can't have any desert as the place had no ice cream. So I had to leave and go somewhere else. A desert place without ice cream? ? ? ?
American-style diners are spreading slowly across Birmingham, but last we checked there was nowhere that had taken it upon themselves to serve only delightful, delicate moreish desserts (we like pudding, OK?) Star City is a good spot for D’Lush – packed as it is with families looking to spend a fun day out together, and there really is no better way to round that off than with a very generous serving of ice cream.
Now all things sweet are treasures that should be held dear (look, we really really like pudding…) but for too many places dessert is an after-thought. Not for the smart cookies at Birmingham’s Star City. Inside, D’Lush is mainlining sugary treats for families and friends smart enough to know which side their bread is, um sprinkled. The menu is a sweet delight covering all the best American-style treats (and French crepes, but they’re so delicious we’ll forgive this geographical blip). You’ll find ice cream, waffles and milkshakes (and coffee, served austere and black, if this sweet thing isn’t really you). To reiterate: at D’Lush Desserts every course is a dessert. Yes: Every. Course. Is. A. Dessert.
