Warrington has a fair few, but it’s hard to think of many Italian eateries as authentic and welcoming as Donatello in Orford. It’s casual, and the vibe is more like a neighbourhood pub than an elegant restaurant, but make no mistake – the food here is first class. Stone-baked pizzas are the backbone of Donatello’s traditional Italian menu, crackling out of a genuine Italian pizza oven in dozens of different incarnations, either simply enhanced with a few herbs and flavourings or laden with juicy toppings, with enough variety to please all members of any party. There’s a lot more than delicious pizza (why would you ever need more?), though, from light antipasto to enjoy over a fine wine or a decadent dessert to leave a sweet taste in your mouth, and we’re pretty sure you’ll soon be lining up a return visit to Orford Lane.
