Inspired by a charming little restaurant that Enoteca’s owners visited in Italy, where the menu was simple, the decor unpretentious and great food and wine was shared around the table among family and friends. Aiming to bring a piece of this Italian charm to Southampton, Enoteca serves up sharing plates and charcuterie boards as well as a handpicked list of Italian wines. You’ll find it located on Bedford Place right in the city centre – book a table now for an authentic Italian experience.
Southampton may have no shortage of great Italian restaurants, but Enoteca is a name that certainly stands out among the rest. Instead of the usual pizza and pasta offerings, Enoteca specialise in small sharing plates and boards, making it the perfect place for a communal dining experience with family or friends. Tuck into a platter of Italian cheeses and cured meats, or share some small tapas-style dishes like the polpettine (juicy Italian meatballs in your choice of classic or spicy sauce), prosciutto wrapped prawns, aubergine and parmesan rolls and griddled lamb cutlets.
Be sure to leave room for dessert though, because you won’t want to miss out on Enoteca’s homemade tiramisu. Whether it’s for a romantic date or a family meal, Enoteca’s charming atmosphere and low-key vibe make it the perfect choice, attracting lovers of Italian cuisine from all over the city to its location on Bedford Place in the city centre. To guarantee a table at this Southampton favourite, making a reservation in advance is strongly recommended.
The food and service were both excellent. We’d heard to try the lamb cutlets and they didn’t disappoint but the meatballs and prawns were exceptional. Great little find, we’ll definitely be going back.
Went two nights in a row, first time with friends second time on my own. Both nights the food was spot on. Service is friendly and efficient without being over powering. Wine list was good and really reasonably priced
went with friends in a party of 3, was so good I'm going back on my own tonight
Excellent lunch - great selection of Italian small plates, and s short but select wine list allows for good matches. Service is friendly and efficient. Good location for Southampton's cultural quarter - only a short walk from theatres, galleries, and the railway station - definitely first choice for me when visiting the city.
We went to Enoteca to celebrate a birthday and got a nice table by the window. We enjoyed very much although the resto was rather quiet, early in the week, but it was summer and warm outside. There was no specials of the day as they had run out (good thing for the resto, not so good for us :-), so we had the larger Antipasta cheese and meats to start, improvements could be to tell us what the cheese and meat names were. They were delish with the fresh baked bed of the day. If I was to be really picky the tables were a tad on the sticky side to the touch. With a big glass of red, very relaxing background music and good conversation the tapas went down a treat. Thank you, we will visit again. ..
Excellent lunch - cheese taster platter with four good cheeses, including homemade ricotta with honey, plus focaccia; spinach, lemon and garlic arancini; griddled lamb cutlets; lentils - all beautifully cooked and presented. Followed by Vin Canto with cantuccini. Very good selection of wines by the glass, allowing good matches for each dish. Service friendly and efficient. Well-located for Southampton's 'Cultural Quarter' - Mayflower Theatre, City Art Gallery, new Nuffield City Theatre, and (soon to open - May 12 2018) Studio 144 gallery. Will definitely be back - and soon.
Excellent.... small portions of meze type food, all with a continental aroma and taste. We had stuffed tomatoes, served just warmed, olives, new potatoes and onion salad and a dish each of flash-fried skirt steak with a garnish of coriander and oil. Delicious. We both enjoyed the affogato as desert. We were seved by the owner and enjoyed talking to him as well as watching him talking to other diners. A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Perfect as a pre-theatre supper and walking distance to the Mayflower theatre.
We had a delicious pre-theatre supper at Enoteca - a nice friendly ambience, with great service and delicious food and wine. We chose from the a la carte menu in the end and had a selection of tapas and then a delicious pudding.
A small place with great food. On a street with many other good restaurants Enoteca still manages to stand out with great food, with small tapas style Italian dishes that leave you wanting to try more.
Enoteca is the one place in this city that I can guarantee excellent food and wine - every time. Do go there! Charming host and a friendly vibe, you will not be disappointed.
