18 of us ate at the restaurant and the service was fantastic through out the meal. All the food tasted great and arrived in good time.

Food great , service terrible waiting 30 min to order and over 30 min to pay had to ask 4 times for the bill ,no one seems to know what’s going on in there also lots of people standing around by the tables waiting to be seated even though they had booked it’s just very disorganised it’s a shame as the food was good

As always, the food, atmosphere and service was very good, if a little slow due to how busy they were that night. Would definitely go again when opportunity arises.

Have eaten there many times before, normally exceptional service and food. However last night was a very busy night and service was slow, staff did their utmost to keep customers happy.

Fabulous food as always but service was a bit slow. If you are not in a hurry the food is superb and staff are friendly attentive.

Excellent food and service. All food is beautifully cooked by the chefs and cannot be faulted. A friendly welcome by the manager is always received. Service onwards is excellent especially as it was a busy evening in the restaurant.

Had a meal last night really enjoyed it so much choice on the menu staff very good no rush as some place just want you in and out we will be going back

We dined early in the evening and were well served. By 7.30 the restaurant was very full and busy. There was plenty of choice and the menu and staff were helpful. Food was good, very hot in all senses and very filling. Staff are commended for noticing an incident in the car park and bringing it to my attention.

Only my 2nd visit but fast becoming our go to restaurant. Service, staff and food all exceptional. The owner is polite and comes to speak when you’ve finished eating to ensure all was ok. We will be going back v soon.

The food & the service was excellent as it always is. I would gladly recommend the Essence of Bengal to anyone, we have never had a bad meal there in the 10 years we have been going there.

Always very welcoming, good food and lots of choice. The environment encourages a relaxed atmosphere. Menu is vast and varied with lots to cater for everyone's choice of 'heat' in their food

Good food a polite service. Always presented well. Been there a few times and always a pleasant experience. The soft drinks;( a basic small glass of blackcurrant and soda/fizzy squash) was overpriced; 2 glasses@£5.90? Too steep.

We recently enjoyed another evening at the Essence of Bengal. Food has always been excellent and the staff are always friendly and professional. We look forward to another visit soon.

Generally the food was good though my wife's lamb was a bit chewy, but the service was very slow as take aways backed up making it a bit of a fraught atmosphere with lots of people about waiting .

The food is some of the best I’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant, unfortunately it took over an hour to get it! Then after asking for the bill I waited another 20 mins

Probably due to the weather the restaurant was very busy plus they were doing takeouts, but the food was as good as always & we didn’t feel rushed at all. We had a lovely meal & will definitely be going again.

Awful restaurant. Supposed to be open til midnight. We arrived about 10.45 and staff cleaning everywhere - this persisted til we left. The food - sag aloo and chilli garlic veg was tasteless and swimming in fat. This is not how to cook Indian food - an embarrassing effort and to be avoided at all costs.

We have been going to the Essence of Bengal for years. We have never had anything to complain about the food is always excellent & there is always a good atmosphere. The staff are very helpful & friendly, the prices are good & the beer is too. We will continue to visit the Essence of Bengal on a regular basis. Steve Ussher
