Brilliant food. Clean and comfortable restaurant . Staff attentive and efficient . Good selection on the menu. Orders arrived promptly. We went to there Chinese New Year which was an excellent evening
My daughter and her friends had a lovely meal to celebrate her birthday. The surprise pudding complete with sparklers really made her day. Great food and friendly staff. Couldn’t ask for more 😊
Very good meal not very often we rate high but would certainly give the food 10 out of 10. Service also good considering they had a big party in and we were a party of 2.
Came here for a birthday celebration. Booked the table online and very quickly received a text message confirmation from the restaurant which was a nice touch. The service was great, staff were friendly. I love the food here, and everyone in the party was very happy and enjoyed the meal. Definitely recommend.
Just everything you could wish for, kind friendly very good service all round . We found it very inviting comfortable and pleasent surroundings, and let me tell everyone the food was out of this world well presented and plenty of it so I say I would recommend the Essence of the Orient to anyone especially if you have a Birthday coming up. Very good indeed. Also if you just fancy a takeaway they cater for that also with their purpose counter and waiting area at the front. Super evening will be going again soon. Thank you.
New year's eve meal for seven of us, three of whom were between eight and twelve. Nothing was too much trouble with menu changes or additions, and each course was piping hot and gorgeous. Ironically, given how busy it was we all agreed that it was probably the best meal we'd had in there. Well done Essence, a lovely night, and considering we were an early (six o clock) booking there was absolutely no pressure to free up the table for later guests.
The main meals where very nice and freshly cooked drinks where nice , however then it all went down hill with the frozen puddings . we had 2 different ice cream puddings they both came very icy i complained ice cream should not be served frozen. we let they melt a while but still the ice cream was not nice and icy like they had been defrosted and re- froze . The staff said they have had problems with the supplier and will not use them again. The puddings where not charged for but it spoilt the meal they never tasted nice and as i told the manageress if they know there is a problem with those pudding why are they still serving them?
This is the thrift time here. The first time the restaurant was manic and the food was a wait but worth it. The last time we went we had a range of food and 10/10. I decided to have lamb in garlic. I actually got beef in garlic. Same price as nice but there were only 5 takes being served this time. And I know we had some cold weather but he restaurant was freezing I’ll give it a miss for a while and maybe try out a few more restaurants
The ambiance was improved and the service good but the food was not to the usual standard The salt and pepper prawns and duck were good, but the vegetarian spring rolls were ghastly -we asked for them to be replaced but the 2nd batch was as awful as the first! Overall the portions were small and this time we were not left wanting more
We have been coming here for years.The service has always been ok in the past and the food delicious. I felt that on our recent visit that the food was too cold and not piping hot like before so the sauces had gone thick almost like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for ages and service was a very slow. We will be back and hope that the food is better next time:)
