The North East of England at times can seem a long way from the sunny climes of Italy – more Middlesbrough than the Mediterranean – but at Foffano’s on Bakehouse Hill in Darlington town centre, they can make you feel like you’re in Sicily or Sardinia. Their take on Italian food is authentic, with pizzas, pastas, risottos and all your favourites. Book a table now for a taste of the bel paese.
Went and tried the early bird special which is 5:30 to 6:30, the food was absolutely delicious, the service prompt and friendly, the food was great value and to top it off they had a lovely lager I hadn't tried before on tap. All round a very pleasant experience.
Lovely meal, good service, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices as usual. I've been to Foffanos' several times and plan to go again in future. They even do gluten-free!
I had heard good reports about this restaurant and read good reviews on here so was looking forward to trying it. We booked in good time so were really looking forward to our evening meal. We arrived early but that wasn't a problem and were shown to a table straight away, The restaurant does have a small seating area if needed. Hubby ordered the Calamari followed by a Diavolo Pizza and I ordered the Fishcakes followed by the Pork Loin in lemon & white wine sauce. Both meals were delicious and presented in a lovely way. We couldn't resist a dessert so I had the Tiramisu Affogato and Hubby had Chocolate Brownie. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Thank you for making my birthday meal special. We will be back!
Italian restaurants are ten-a-lira in the UK, and there is a huge disparity between the best and the worst. Luckily for the Italian cognoscenti of Darlington, they’ve got one of the good ones, in the form of Foffano’s on Bakehouse Hill in the town centre. They’ve been going since 2007, and their superb location – close to the Cornmill Shopping Centre and a short walk from Darlington train station – their fresh ingredients and their dedication to traditional Italian recipes is a winning combination.
The menu at Foffano’s is all you could want from an Italian restaurant and more. Begin your Bakehouse Hill meal with a selection of antipasti and bruschetta, before moving onto a lasagne, a risotto, a pasta or one of their Italian-style steaks. There are pizzas, of course, as well, and seafood – more than enough to satisfy your whole party. Book a table now for one of the finest Italian restaurants in Darlington town centre.
