As always the food was excellent. Great range of specialist dishes not on the run of a mill Indian restaurant. All cooked fresh to our liking. Service is always very friendly and attentive. And glad they listened to me and have bought back proper flannels!

Upper St Giles is near St John the Baptist cathedral, so the quiet part of the city. The restaurant has quiet non intrusive music. The service is quick and pleasant. They are happy with what ever you order, even a main course between two and we saw other customers taking away a bag of food left from their menu for later They serve an excellent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Overall good value Other restaurants seem to process you but not here, they allow you to enjoy the whole evening Excellent vegetarian options and fish Good for meeting friends

Service and the quality of the dishes make this place stand out. Went for a Balti (If only to remind myself of alternative dishes I may be missing out on) and enjoyed it so much that I made a note that the Balti here was very good. Special mention to the naan which are always fresh and thus slightly fluffy compared to many that serve naans more crispy.

Although I do not live local to the area, whenever I stay in Norwich I always ensure that a visit to Gali is top of my to do list (previously St Giles Spice) and this has been the case for several years. Whilst the food was still of exceptional quality, hence my good rating, the conduct of some of the customers was totally inconsiderate and the lack of action taken by the Gali staff was very evident. There was a large table of boisterous customers who laterly turned the restaurant into a changing room where someone eventually got into a dinosaur outfit - I kid you not. This was all very hysterically funny to them. It was not to my table and all of the other tables around us. They were all commenting how poor this behavior was and how their evening had been made far less enjoyable. Whilst I do very much have a sense of humour, the time & the place of expressing this humour is very important to me. I do not expect this to take over a restaurant and any instances of disturbance to other customers should be swiftly dealt with. On my next visit to Norwich, I doubt that this restaurant will figure so prominently on my list of activities!!
