Since 2008 Herman ze German is providing Londoners with the most wonderful Wurst money can buy. What is it with Germans and their love for sausages? We don’t know, but fact is, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a Wurst-snack with French fries and sauerkraut at Herman ze German’s Fitzrovia location. Offering you and inspired selection of Chili Beef sausage, original Bockwurst and authentic Bratwurst, Herman delivers the goods, Wurst-wise. But their other offerings aren’t far off either, with great beer and German lemonades accompanying your meal. Ja!
The legendary Black Forest in South Germany is the home to Florian and Azadeh, and, to no small surprise, also to most excellent Wurst. Sharing with you the love for sausage and other German delights, Herman ze German has come to Fitzrovia to properly educate you on the taste of simply great fine quality sausages and sauces, French fries and sauerkraut. The sausages are directly imported from the Black Forest region and come in three kinds: Chilli Beef, smooth and smoky Bockwurst and authentic Bratwurst that’s just too good with a dap of spicy mustard.
The sausages are gluten and lactose free and parboiled, so they make a great snack for everyone. The location in Fitzrovia is a perennial favourite among the reviewers on TripAdvisor and Yelp and showcases everything culinary teutonic. And how about this: Have Herman ze German organize a barbecue at your place or at your office. Ja, total! Herman, having toured countless festivals with his trailer and grill, will make this an event to remember and has the experience to show for it. Just ask them and they will make you an offer. Just for the record: We are biiiig fans of the Wurstmann. Or, as Herman ze German is fond of saying: Our Wurst is simply ze best.
Very good service good food and great beer. Took the family loads better value than fast food. The fries were excellent and the sausage was even better
really lovely staff and great authentic german food and drink! I was so happy to find Fritz Mate in London, and curry wurst that tastes like it's straight from Berlin
Loved it, best vegan sausage in London. The beer is also excellent (and at £5 a pint, not too pricey for a central London restaurant). If you're looking for somewhere casual to have a laugh with a few friends, this is the place!
Ze Germans are good! Have been using the villiers st for take out for a few years, this was my first sit down hermans, it was awesome, cool place good service great sausage and beer! And very reasonable on the cost! Wunderbar!
Food was excellent. Steins of German lager were excellent. Staff helpfulness was excellent. Our group's only comment was the soundtrack: if you are going to play the German card this strongly in the menu and decor, play it the whole way. We don't expect to hear The XX or George Michael with our Bockwurst, we want The Scorpions, Opus, Kraftwerk, Nena (German version, naturally), krautrock and lots of hair metal.
I just love Herman Ze German. This was my first trip to the Charlotte Street one, but have been many times to the Soho one. If you just want a decent German Sausage and a beer Herman Ze German is the place to go. :-)
I picked this place as it was a bit different for a group night out. The food certainly didn’t disappoint, great selection of sausages and gluten free for me! My only complaint is that there were not enough staff and the service was a bit slow. However it wouldn’t stop me going again.
Authentic, relaxed, good beer - a real German gem. This is now one of our regular supper places as it's increasingly difficult to find reasonably priced food that is not from a chain. Herman - please don't change a thing - but maybe add some cake and potato pancakes with applesauce!
Sausages and beer great as usual and good marks for atmosphere and staff. Only downside was that they seemed to have run out of usual rolls and served wurst in part-baked supermarket rolls which ruined the otherwise great sausage. Probably worth stating that this is the case when you order as would have happily changed our order.
Good sausage. Good beer. Good portions. Fair price. Only problem was that they brought the food out slightly before the drinks, but that was due to them being so speedy with our order so I can't whinge too much about that.
