Pushed to the limit of his culinary skills by Kalpana’s proprietor, a man who chose Wolverhampton over all other global cities to found his Indian restaurant and cocktail bar, the head chef at Kalpana’s city centre premises has laboured long to curate an eclectic menu that does the impossible: fusing contemporary, traditional, and original ideas to create specifically Indian cuisine using global cooking techniques. This juggling act takes place down Fold Street – be sure to book to get a front row seat.
Start your creative culinary adventure with Kalpana’s tandoori selection, a platter of your favourite chicken tikka, seekh kebabs and lamb chops. For the main event, the chef’s special comes highly recommended: Indian-style braised lamb shank cooked in exotic spices and served with jeera onion pulao rice. Wolverhampton’s vegetarian South Asian food fans will love the gourmet nazuk malai kofta, stuffed with nuts and saffron and simmered in a rich and creamy tomato-based gravy. Don’t forget to call upon Kalpana’s extensive wine list – hard to beat at any other city centre restaurant – that is designed not only to introduce you to the world’s vineyards, but to perfectly complement your meal.
