Located in the residential neighbourhood of Sherwood, north of Nottingham city centre, Le Mistral is a local French-style bistro offering delightful Gallic charm, a range of menus and blackboard specials. Full of character, with quintessentially French decor and relaxed atmosphere, delectable cuisine and fine wines, Le Mistral attracts a regular crowd of diners to its location on Mansfield Road for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. To guarantee a table, booking in advance is advised.
Easily spotted along Mansfield Road by its bright red facade, you could easily mistake Le Mistral in Nottingham’s quiet neighbourhood of Sherwood for a quaint restaurant in rural France, and the dishes on offer here are as equally as rustic as the atmosphere. At lunchtime you’ll find classics of casual French dining on the menu such as omelette and boeuf bourguignon. Come evening time, begin your meal by sharing le camembert (camembert served with garlic, herbs and a white wine sauce served with stacks of crusty baguette and crudites), before moving on to another French favourite.
We recommend the canard boulangere (confit duck leg with boulangere potatoes, fresh vegetables and puy lentils topped with a balsamic and red wine reduction) or the moules frites (freshly steamed mussels with pommes frites and crusty bread, served with or without cream). For an elegant French experience in Nottingham, book a table at Le Mistral on Mansfield Road, close to the corner with Daybrook Street.
It was our first time at the Wirksworth restaurant and it definitely lived up to the expectations. Another wonderful meal at le mistral!! Great friendly staff and delicious food. Would always recommend it here.
As always, excellent food, and really good staff. No rush no hassle. The vegetarian tasting menu is just fantastic! We love the whole laid back, calm experience with brilliant food and wine.
We visited Le Mistral, Wirksworth, last Tuesday 18th July. On Tuesday evenings Le Mistral offers a Belgian evening of moules frites/mussels and chips and a choice of Belgian beer at very reasonable prices. We've both chosen this option before and once again we weren't disappointed. We enjoyed a very good meal, reasonably priced that we would thoroughly recommend to any visitor to this restaurant. Friendly staff and a restaurant setting that could almost be in a French village, with food to match. Tony and Mel.
