Macellaio RC Bloomsbury is the newest addition to a family of Milan and London Italian restaurants. We’ve always loved Macellaio RC because of the passion and expertise that goes into the sourcing, preparation and cooking of the food. All the steak at Macellaio RC Bloomsbury comes from the Fassona breed of cattle in the mountain valleys north of Genoa, for example, then the meat is butchered right in front of you at your table. All bread is baked in-house and all vegetables are sourced locally where possible. You’ll find Macellaio RC Bloomsbury on Store Street and it’s one of our favourite Italian restaurants in this buzzing part of London. Reservations are essential.

We couldn’t be happier that the Macellaio RC family has grown again, this time with the Bloomsbury restaurant on Store Street that is just as terrific as its older brothers and sisters elsewhere in London and Milan. Not only is the food of a quality not often found at Italian restaurants in London – from the specially sourced meat to the Sicilian tuna and every last piece of artisan bread – but the drinks menu is seriously impressive as well. So, for whatever your occasion might be, whether there’s a big group of you or it’s date night, Macellaio RC Bloomsbury is a solid bet.
Begin, perhaps, with the bone marrow starter, the tuna tartare or the battuta served with spicy gorgonzola and Modena balsamic vinegar. For your main, given there’s such a sharp focus on high quality steak and fish at Macellaio RC Bloomsbury, we really recommend the rump steak served simply with Tuscan extra virgin olive oil or the tuna cacciatora. Then, naturally, this being an Italian restaurant and all, means pasta is also served, but the Macellaio RC Bloomsbury menu goes for quality rather than quantity, so only a few, extremely good pasta dishes feature. Folk in this part of London love Macellaio RC and you won’t struggle to see why.
