‘Oh show me the way to the next whiskey bar…’ – so sang Jim Morrison on the classic Doors track Alabama Song, and if the Lizard King was drinking in central Liverpool, the next whisky bar would be Mackenzies on Rodney Street in the Ropewalks. This is the brainchild of Arran Bailey and Brian Mohan, the management team, and they are bringing British food together with amber liquors from around the world. They offer snacks to go with the Scotch, breads with the bourbons and cheeses with the cocktails, but don’t just take our word for it: reserve your table now, rope in your mates and set a course for the corner of Rodney Street and Hardman Street – close to Liverpool John Moores University – for a night out with no little style.
