The true name of the Mekong River, in Thailand and Laos, is ‘Mae Nam Khong’ – hence the curious rendering of the name of this Poole Thai restaurant in Upper Parkstone. Maekhong Thai Restaurant’s menu is as authentic as its name, with dishes like lamb shank massaman curry served on the bone and especially stir-fried seafood pad cha and stand up sea bass (the crispy whole fish literally stands up on its own tail) reminiscent of the riverine cuisine of Southeast Asia. Located on Albert Road, just off Ashley Road, the main drag to Bournemouth, Maekhong Thai is ideally suited to both towns’ diners.
Simply the best Thai food I have eaten in the UK. True authentic flavours. A small unassuming restaurant where food presentation and taste are excellent. A MUST if you like Thai. Cannot recommend highly enough. Fish better than Rick Stein and half the price!
Delicious, authentic Thai cooking. Wide range on menu and cooked to taste. Friendly, helpful waiters. Came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. We will definitely return.
Really good food & excellent service - prices were reasonable & the staff were very friendly - we will definitely be back, we will also high recommend this lovely Thai restaurant.
