More about the restaurant: Maisha
The name of this Indian restaurant in St Andrews means working with pride, and whether you book for a three-course lunch (including a fantastic value deal for students), an equally affordable early evening meal, or choose to dine a la carte, this sense of pride comes through in every dish. The focus at Maisha is on Bengali and Indian seafood – you can find the silvery rupchanda (pomfret) and tilapia from the Bay of Bengal in various guises here. Other recommended dishes include the Scottish lambs’ liver bhuna and a seafood bhuna made prepared with crab fresh from the waters off St Andrews. This latter is a particular point of pride for the restaurant, developed by Mahfura, wife of Maisha’s proprietor Mohi. Tucked down College Street between the university and the town centre, Maisha is a superlative choice for South Asian dining in St Andrews.
