It was my mother's 96th birthday and we all had a Christmas Lunch to celebrate. Food was freshly and perfectly cooked and very generous in the serving portions. Wine was very pleasant. Service was quick. We stayed about 2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We often eat here and have never had a mediocre meal.

We are locals and visit this pub/restaurant quite frequently. We like the atmosphere, friendliness of the staff, and choice and quality of the food. All three of us had different meals and each one was delicious.

We had a very good time for my birthday, food, service and surroundings were excellent, staff helpful and friendly. The only very minor downside is the parking at the pub

Our visit was at lunchtime on a Monday so restaurant was quiet. The food was very good and we used our Meercat 2 for 1 offer so the value was outstanding. Service very good and discreet.

This was our second visit in a week, so we must like it. This time we came with a different couple from the ones we brought before. Our comments would be the same as before. We enjoyed it very much and so did our friends, who will be coming again with their family on Saturday. We would certainly come again.

Fantastic service from the moment we walked in, straight down to our table nice and quickly. Appreciate the speed of service with a little one as well. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back again. Pie night was an absolute treat!

We are fairly regular customers, but this was our first visit after the recent closure for refurbishment. The venue has been tastefully decorated, with not over-powering pictures on the wall. There is plenty of space in the restaurant. The food is well presented and enough on the menu for all tastes. We came with some friends who said they would definitely come again.

Great food. Many options. Great fish pie, great Belly pork. No welcome on arrival. Left alone all throughout the meal, no one came to check on us. Very comfortable snug area, where we had our drinks after the meal. Decor and toilets were very good. There was a very young looking boy serving drinks regrettably did not seem to have any personality and did not interact with customers. Appreciate it is very difficult to pick and choose your clientele but there were some in your bar with language that really is not necessary. All in all the food was great but some of the finer points were lacking. Maybe some promotions may help to bring in more trade, that would generate good income.

Being a Monday there were few other customers so the bar area was quiet. The Merryfellow has recently been refurbished and the whole experience was pleasant, the food was nicely cooked, overall we enjoyed our evening.

We had an excellent time as the staff were very friendly. The only downside was the food seems to took a long time to come out but it was very good quality.

Food Excellent properly cooked & hot. Staff terrific and knowledgeable, real ale a little bit flat, needs a northerner to make it better. Will come again.

Lovely carvery with great selection of vegetables all well cooked without being overcooked and all lovely and hot. Gammon and pork was nice with lovely large Yorkshire puddings. , Only criticism was the beef was already cut into strips (rather than carved from a joint in front of you) and was quite chewy- maybe I was just unlucky

Lovely Sunday carvery, excellent range of veg perfectly cooked. Would have been nice to have a vegetarian option too? Kids plates were same size as adult plates - you just get less meat for kids size. Cost: £12 adult; £7 child. Popular after 1pm. Cramped, limited car park - be warned!

Food excellent. Funny thing to say but at the carvery the girl carving did not have a sharp knife - to me that’s basic! Ripped meats to shreds - pity. Staff v helpful and friendly. Wish we had been told we could eat in restaurant not in bar. Generally good, our first time, will return.

Good carvery - even my fussy children ate up. Watch out for the very hot vegetable containers though! Excellent Eton mess to finish. Would recommend for a generous, unfussy meal.
