Mesa Kitchen & Lounge is an inviting spot in North London, located right on Southgate’s High Street. You will find a wide range of Turkish dishes on the menu (all cooked by expert chefs on a traditional charcoal grill!), as well as other continental dishes alongside old reliables such as steaks, burgers, salads and more – using only the freshest ingredients and making all their own homemade sauces from scratch to boot! Mesa Kitchen & Lounge also has a fully-stocked bar serving up a selection of carefully crafted cocktails and fine wines as well as all the usual suspects, so why not make a night of it? Booking ahead is highly advised.
The word ‘mesa’ has a few different meanings depending what language you’re speaking... In Turkish it means twilight, in Spanish it means table, while in Greek ‘ela mesa’ acts a warm invitation to come inside. So it should come as no surprise that the atmosphere and food you will find at Mesa Kitchen & Lounge are a combination of all three of those three meanings. Whether you fancy sitting inside in the glamorous dining room or if you’d prefer to sit outside in the modern, all-weather secret garden complete with its own serving bar, you’ll be well looked after at Mesa Kitchen & Lounge. Serving up Turkish and Mediterranean dishes on Southgate’s High Street, this London eatery truly takes it to the next level with their polished food offering.
For starters at Mesa Kitchen & Lounge you can choose from delectable dishes such as crispy calamari with mint and coriander salad served with a garlic mayo dip or scallops pan fried in garlic butter served with a dry apple slice, crispy turkey bacon and croutons topped with truffle oil. Moving on to the main event at this London hotspot, dishes include pan-fried sea bass with potato purée, buttered spinach, cherry tomatoes, olives and caper oil and grilled marinated lamb ribs served with buttered mixed veg and side home made chilli. So if you’re looking for a spectacular Turkish feed around Southgate, you’d best be booking a table at Mesa Kitchen & Lounge pretty sharpish!
Super friendly service, great menu and very tasty food! Now planning to try out their weekend Prosecco brunch next bank holiday weekend with the family
Great hosts. A lovely evening and such good value we will be back very soon. West end service at local prices. Well done Mesa ...just what Southgate needed.
A lovely evening celebrating friends birthdays , lovely food & wine & very attentive staff Was a little warm with heating / air-conditioning on but was adjusted when asked Fully recommend this restaurant for any occasion
Amazing food and drinks we were a party of 6 and we all loved it. Staff were friendly, highly recommended. I would definitely go back again.
I have been visiting 52 The High St for the past six years and this is the third restaurant to occupy the building. It is worth a visit just to admire the newly enlarged and refurbished building that no longer looks like a pub. I was apprehensive if the food would live up to its surroundings, especially since the previous two restaurants had set a high standard. So far the family have only sampled a small amount of the menu, the burgers and Turkish dishes were of a high standard as was the starters and house trimmings. My only small complaint is that on my first visit the Sea Bass was server with too much potato and not enough vegetable.
First time here after it changed from Green’s, that was there before. Absolutely delicious meal. My husband had the roast burger which was SO good, a different take on a traditional burger. My children had an adult cheeseburger between them, I had a taste and it was one of the best burgers I’d tasted in a while! I had the sea bass which was delicious. We had the Jaffa bomb for dessert, it was fantastic the way the caramel melted the chocolate. They have decorated it really nicely. Friendly, helpful staff.
Classy restaurant with fantastic starters, fresh ingredients finely cooked. My adana was a tad over cooked and should be a little more juicy. Service was very well done with attentive and polite waiters. A little improvement here and there, mainly on main dishes will ensure a complete experience. Hope the restaurant does well as longevity is key. I’ll definitely be visiting again.
Overall good, it is never completely fair trying a restaurant for the first time on Valentine's Day, as Mesa like most restaurants had a set menu with fewer choices. However my first course, the scallops was outstanding. Looking forward to going back when the weather improves and eating in their lovely outside space.
Our second visit, first went after it opened and now having returned it is even better, the food was excellent, good choices and really well presented, staff very attentive but not intrusive, on arrival was given a choice of tables. We will be recommending the Mesa Kitchen to our friends and returning.
Great service & delicious food. We both had steaks and they were perfectly cooked. My only criticism was it was quite dark where our table was so would ask for a different table next time! Will definitely recommend & go back soon!
