About Monkey Grinder

While it’s true that when you think of dining out in Liverpool, areas like Ropewalks and the Georgian Quarter spring to mind, although it’s Sefton Park that’s been causing the most buzz of late. Home to the bohemian Lark Lane, this area is brimming with new and exciting restaurants just begging to be tried. And one of the best in the area would, of course, be Monkey Grinder, a new spot which specialises in Spanish tapas that local foodies can’t get enough of. Located on the corner of Lark Lane and Hesketh Street, Monkey Grinder is the perfect spot for a casual drink and light bite, or a full-fledged Spanish culinary invasion.

More about Monkey Grinder, Liverpool

Monkey Grinder in Sefton Park is one of those places where one visit is all you need to know that it’s going to become a regular post-work haunt, or a go-to for catching up with old friends. The menu is based around Spanish tapas, making it the ideal spot for sharing dishes with your nearest and dearest while indulging in a cocktail or two – and its gin menu is well worth a look as well. This new kid on the Liverpool block is making waves with those who love food, and good food at that, so we should probably give you an idea of what to expect when paying Monkey Grinder a visit.

The menu is the star of the show, and we recommend getting straight to it and ordering a charcuterie board to get things going, where you’ll find delectable cured meats like jamon iberico, chorizo and salchichon alongside manchego, mahon and azul cheeses. Following that, why not opt for fillet steak with crispy polenta and kale, meatballs with caponata salsa, tiger prawns cooked in spicy garlic chilli sauce and roast fig crostinis with feta, confit tomato and fresh herbs? We can’t give it all away though, so it’s best you make a reservation at Monkey Grinder in Sefton Park to try it out for yourself. Located on the corner of Lark Lane and Hesketh Street, you’re in for a delightful Spanish tapas experience at this brand new Liverpool hotspot.

We had an amazing meal for our anniversary last Friday night and the staff could not have been nicer or looked after us any better! Highly recommended and can't wait to visit again. Donna and Michael

The overall experience was great. The food was of an excellent standard! We booked our reservation through the Quandoo app which was fine. However, when I redeemed the 1000 points to use at the monkey grinder we were advised that "the owner had not agreed this with quandoo in their meeting and that they were only new" I appreciate they are new, however if you are a member of the quandoo app and accept reservations through there you should be aware that customers may redeem loyalty points to use at your restaurant. If the restaurant owner isn't aware of this, then maybe Quandoos sales people should amend their pitch accordingly. Had the waitress not have given us the £10 discount as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience then we would have wasted 1000 points that we could have used in another restaurant. Perhaps it is poor communication between quandoo and monkey grinder but either way it's false advertising if they do not fulfill the loyalty points redeemed by customers. Again - excellent food and drinks, lovely staff and would definitely visit again (without using quandoo)

It has been some years since we have eaten Spanish cuisine, so our experience at the monkey grinder was very welcome. The menu was not a very varied one but still it was good enough and we had no complaints on what we chose for our meal. In time they could add a lot more to the menu the restaurant has only been open for 3 months. Some of the dishes I found were over priced for what you get, the drinks menu again may improve in choice. Decor is quite simple but nice, back- ground music was mixed but easy on the ears. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Worth a visit, we enjoyed our time at the monkey grinder and will return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Monkey Grinder; the staff we wonderfully attentive and friendly (but not smothering), the menu was full of options which sounded delicious and what we chose didn't disappoint. We went on a Monday so it was really quiet, but I love the decor and imagine there would be a good buzz about the place when it's a little busier.

Really lovely and tasteful atmosphere, staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. We were so happy with our evening, it was absolutely perfect. Definitely a great place for a date night or a meal with friends. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. It sounds a bit cloying but genuinely wouldn't change a thing.

We were made to feel really welcome, and the service was excellent. The food was really tasty and came out quickly. The only thing I'd say, is the menu is a little limited, although I imagine that will improve with time, and some of the plates were a little large and took up a lot of space of the table!

We had a lovely meal at Monkey Grinder, it's just a shame they had run out of a few things. We were eating at around 7.30pm on a Sunday.
