Glasgow knows Indian food better than most other cities in the UK, thus it relies on Indian restaurants like Mount Cafe to provide the goods. Mount Cafe is happy to oblige, of course, and on Burnfield Road in Giffnock it has amassed quite the local following. The menu isn’t huge but it’s laced with Mount Cafe specials in the way of sharabi or bhutuwa (actually a Nepalese-style curry) made with tender lamb, garlic, ginger, green chilli and coriander. There’s also variations of the classic korma that go way beyond the norm, as well as kebabs, burgers and hoggies. If in or around Giffnock, be absolutely sure to give Mount Cafe a go.
Superb service and food. Inexpensive too. 4 starters, 4 Nepalese curried, rice, nan and paratha plus two bottles wine for £90. Complimentary poppadoms and spiced onions to kick off. Tastiest, full-flavoured food, delicious lamb.
Super sauces, tender meat, nice service, good shandies, clean and tidy, good choice of unusual dishes, lovely authentic music , clean loos, would definitely recommend and go again.
Excellent restaurant. Our meal was excellent and good value too. And, staff very attentive. This is the only place I will go to now for Indian food.
