The wilds of the Wirral might seem a long way from the waters of the Med, but at Noya on Ford Road in Upton, you can be whisked away for a splash of sunshine. Their menu takes in all the flavours of the Mediterranean, from the mezze small plates of Turkey to the pizzas of Italy and the chargrilled skewers of Greece. The Wirral may be close to the sea, but it is a long way away from most people’s idea of a seaside vacation. Noya, on Ford Road in Upton, is a restaurant that can transport diners – for an evening at least – from Merseyside to the Mediterranean, with a menu that travels around the sunnier climes of the south of Europe, picking up the best in the cooking of the region on the way. They offer mezzes and chargrilled kebabs, as well as a range of pizzas, jacket potatoes and burgers.
On arrival at Noya – as at any restaurant in the Mediterranean – it is always advised to look at the small plates menu to share among your party as a starter. Starters at Noya in Upton include halloumi, borek – Turkish pastries – and hummus, as well as fish cakes and king prawns. Follow them up with a salad – the Greek option with feta cheese is the obvious choice – and a main course: char-grilled kebabs,pizzas and their seafood specials are regulars’ favourites. In fact, there are plenty of regulars at Wirral’s Noya, so we advise booking a table in advance!
