Excellent family run restaurant. Greatly food and great service. Very enjoyable experience.

We love the restaurant anyway but the staff were as always friendly and efficient and the food was beautiful. It was my wife’s birthday and they brought out a surprise for her at the end. Perfect way to end a lovely dinner. Thank O’Picado

Excellent portion sizes and staff very nice. The back room was very cold and I had to put my coat on as my back was getting really uncomfortable.

Busy night but lovely food and great relaxed atmosphere as ever

Restaurant was empty at the time of arrival which should have alarmed us at Sunday lunch time. Tapas at the start were ok, even though I never had the octopus salad served hot. For mains while the fejoada was plentiful with lots of meat and chorizo,- the grilled chicken came with no garnish at all, swimming in a lake of fat. The prices on the menu look ok until you realise there are no side orders at all included. At £ 3.25 for a portion of over cooked rice, it is adding up. I would not make the trip to Southend for a Portuguese meal out again , even on a nice summer day if you can have a lovely authentic Portuguese lunch in East London for better value for money.

Splendid and varied menu called in before theatre and service attentive and kept us in track. This is a great place and a great way to spend an evening

Fantastic food, unfortunately it took over an hour for them to take our order. Will be going back, maybe when it’s less busy

Very slow service, took ages to get a drink and place order. Starter turned up well undercooked, paid the bill and left. Have been before a few times shame because normally good.

They need to sort out heating in rear part of the premises. And they know that, because we were offered blankets if we felt cold! 2 meals: 1 v good (mixed fish skewer), the other, battered fish on rice, somewhat greasy.

We went early for a pre-theatre meal. The menu is varied for both food and drinks. We had a mixed fish skewer and a steak (both of which were lovely) and a cocktail each (also both very good). Would definitely go back - very pleasant staff in very pleasant surroundings!

Good but not as good as it use to be , quality and family atmosphere has definitely changed some over the years went from an exceptional restaurant to an average restaurant........ shame :/

Hi have eaten here several times always been satisfied, a couple of points tonight though the wine was not opened at the table which it should have been and the lamb was very tough ! Wouldnt stop me going again but needs pointing out !

Went yesterday for a pre-theatre meal, We had a lovely meal and a litre of Sangria, service was very good, and we shall be going back in a few weeks time for another pre-theatre meal . Lots of choice on the Menu and reasonably priced.

We chose O'Picado for a birthday dinner, because the food is always exellent, the service friendly and attentive but not too much, and the atmosphere is so congenial. A lovely place that we've been visiting for special occasions for many years now.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive service but not over-attentive, delicious food. Particularly the desserts! Would recommend.

First time I’ve ever been to a restaurant where the manager/chef tore into a young girl on the waiting staff in front of us. It’s totally unprofessional and made the evening uncomfortable. However the food was lovely, and the waiting staff, the aforementioned girl included were excellent. Unfortunately that level of service was not matched by the kitchen. Three of our four meals came out, nearly a hour and half after starters, and the fourth followed some ten minutes later, when the rest of our table had almost finished. Some side dishes were also undercooked. This restaurant will add a service charge to your bill and as I felt the service from the kitchen was very poor I asked for it to be removed so I could share it as a cash tip to the two girls who did their job so much better, something the kitchen could learn from.
