Food was excellent, service very friendly. Good atmosphere. Where we sat was a bit uncomfortable (table for 5, sat on two benches which were old church pews). We will return but will ask for more comfortable seating next time.

Lovely dinner. Everything was delicious with good portion. Great value for money and staff were friendly too. Certainly need to book in advance as tables are limited.

Excellent food with superb friendly service. Staff were extremely polite and very attentive. The menu had a very good selection, and the restaurant was warm and welcoming.

Brilliant service, efficient and friendly, we didn't have to ask for anything, fresh water topped up. and the food was absolutely lovely, my husband and I really enjoyed every course. I had duck as a main meal, the only slight was a very peppery kale but that could have been my taste. Thank you very much for a lovely evening. One disappointment is that I couldn't book a table for another visit 2weeks later as fully booked! So my advise is book early.

Birthday treat - had never been before but heard good reviews. Was not disappointed - service a little slow but food was fantastic so worth the wait! Shame the location isn't ideal for parking or mobility issues as would go more regularly. Will go again though and will definitely recommend!

Disappointing - we ordered some bread and oil dip - between the two of us one roll obviously been microwaved since it was too hot to handle!! told that was all they had left!! I had fish and chips the fish was not good luke warm ! Will giver it another go sometime - staff seemed stretched not many on - not impressed this time!! staffand on

After numerous fantastic visits to this restaurant this time I don't feel the food was as good as normal. Yes it was well presented and cooked, but the flavours in my fish dish just seemed confused. The Bass was perfect but the accompanying fish cakes lacked flavour and to be honest detracted from the dish. My favourite starter of black pudding had been changed from its original incarnation into a lesser form. ' if its not broke don't fix it '

Excellent food and service. Plenty of choice of food, suitable for all tastes. Even though it was busy at lunch time, we did not feel hurried.

This is quite simply the best restaurant in North Wales! Great food, great service, reasonable prices for what is in my opinion Michelin star quality food.

The quality of the food and wine and service was to the usual very high standard, although a little disappointed that the range of choice from the menu seemed to have reduced since our previous visit. The overall experience and enjoyment of the evening was excellent.

We have been dining at On the hill for over 2 years and have enjoyed the experience every time;until we visited this last Tuesday,13/3/2018.Having travelled over from Anglesey for an enjoyable evening out,we were most disappointed.The staff were not as friendly or switched on as usual,none of which we have seen there before.The starters were acceptable,but the main meal poor.My wife had Hake,which was presented greasy and best described as stoge.My sirloin arrived and clearly was not sirloin,as it was a lump of beef and very tough and chewy.I complained to the waiter and asked to speak to the chef.15 MINUTES LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT CHEF WOULD NOT BE COMING OUT TO SEE US,BUT DID AGREE THAT THE MEAT WAS NOT UP TO STANDARD!!We were told that the red wine would be knocked off the bill,which came to less than the steak price!We paid our bill and left,vowing not to return.If this was a one off,i suggest that the management address the issues of the night as a matter of urgency,before they loose more customers.Hefin Thomas.

The service was quick very friendly. The food was quickly served and hot. We were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much for the staff.

lovely meal Scallops very tasty but felt the curry/spice approach didn't show off the sweet delicate flavour of the scallops to their best. Duck delicious. Crumble desert...very little rhubarb flavour, too much carb (pastry bit soggy) and too much crumble, it was ok but a bit ordinary. Relaxed attentive service.

Having had to 'phone because we would be ten minutes late (I was delayed in a meeting) we were still welcomed over the 'phone and again when we arrived. We forewent starters, because we wanted puddings (On the Hill does quality AND quantity) and my wife had a delicious seafood crêpe and I had the pork - simply wonderful. For puddings my wife had a crème caramel and I had the pear, plum and custard crumble, being offered an extra scoop of vanilla ice-cream when I declined the pouring cream. And all this with cheery and attentive service. So good that we've booked again (and again). Well done everyone and thank you.

Very quick and friendly service. Excellent tasty flavourful food, brilliant value for money, lovely atmosphere. Coming back next weekend as we enjoyed it so much.

A delightful restaurant, great service, friendly staff and amazing food. A bit pricey but worth the money if only for a special occasion. I live about an hours drive away but would definitely eat there again.

Food quality, taste and presentation were excellent - couldn’t fault them apart from (1) some of the main course was luke warm suggesting timing and plating up issues in the kitchen and (2) it took over 90 minutes for two courses. Hence the 4 score. Otherwise it would have been a 6. We will revisit though and hopefully this was just a one off night.

As always, wonderful food, staff and setting. Go here about four or five times a year and its always good. Have already booked for our next visit.

Lovely evening spent with friends mid week, food was presented well, fish crepe to start was amazing with the right combination of fish and sauce, Thai medley of veg as main course looked beautiful as well as tasting delicious, medley of citrus puds was a real treat. Staff were very friendly and efficient, would recommend to everyone.

The service was excellent, the two ladies that served us were pleasant and attentive. We had the three course option for lunch and every course was sensational! We will definitely be returning for more.

The meal was gorgeous and service was fantastic. We only live about 40 minutes away but were staying at Ruthin Castle. We will now definitely visit more often as it's worth the drive. Tracy and Nigel

Really nteresting menu, excellent cooking and friendly service, definitely worth a visit. Great value too, go for a brisk walk up Moel Famau and call in for a late lunch but don’t forget to book to avoid disappointment!

Brilliant service and good food, lots of menu choice and waitress very attentive. No fred, but busy, fun and intimate, camnot wait till we are going again!

The food was absolutely delicious. Lots of choice too whether you love meat, fish or vegetables. The portion size was great. I was full having the focaccia to start and lamb special so I couldn’t sample a pudding or their cheese board. My partner loves desserts if homemade and he was really pleased with the crumble. We will definitely go back!

Gorgeous well presented food, efficient and friendly service and great ambience. Wines well chosen and well priced. Definitely recommend but book early - very popular eatery!
