Dear diners, please be aware that Patara - Berners Street is currently closed until further notice. However, Patara’s Greek Street and Maddox Street locations are open and available for reservations. Thank you!
The newest of the Patara family of Thai restaurants, the Berners Street outlet has finally arrived to the delight of London’s Asian-food fanatics and discerning gourmets. Elevating upscale Thai cuisine to unforeseen heights, Patara is a standout in terms of quality, atmosphere and service. This classy restaurant can be found on Berners Street in Fitzrovia, only moments from both Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus stations and just a hop, skip and a jump from University College London.
Patara has made a name for itself throughout the world for its flavourful, contemporary Thai cuisine. With branches in Vienna, Thailand, Beijing, and Geneva, as well as throughout London, Patara is truly an international restaurant. All of the outlets feature chefs trained in Thailand, ensuring you the most authentic experience, no matter which of their restaurants you visit. The Berners Street location in Fitzrovia is stunning, and features a beautiful, light-filled atmosphere in which to enjoy some of London’s very best southeast Asian cuisine.
At Patara on Fitzrovia’s Berners Street, you’ll be blown away by the restaurant’s gorgeous, calming interior, and the extensive food menu – featuring signature dishes making their debut at this newly established branch – will be the icing on the cake. Recommendations at this London hotspot include the kieaw wan lobster, rock lobster medallions with green curry sauce, sweet basil and fresh peppercorns, the black cod with ginger, the king prawn pad Thai, and the tuna carpaccio. For vegetarians, we recommend Patara’s mushrooms in roasted chilli or the sweet & sour tofu. Make sure to finish off with a dessert, such as the homemade chocolate pudding or the gluayhom ob ice-cream, baked banana served warm with homemade vanilla ice cream. Book ahead when planning to dine at this world-famous Thai restaurant!
Might seem a little pricey but the good and service were both outstanding! Would definitely recommend to Thai food fans and food lovers in general. Also, try their cocktails!
Extremely helpful staff and fantastic food. The staff really went out of their way to ensure that we had a fantastic meal. We enjoyed our meal in a stylish and clean environment.
Lovely ambience, attentive staff, and great food choices and presentation.... each dish provided a unique explosion of flavors in the mouth. I loved it... can't wait to go back!
Consistently good - Patara is a hidden gem just off Oxford Street and the perfect place for a sophisticated lunch stop between shopping or on an evening out. The Beef Cheek Penang melts in your mouth and the service is fantastic. Highly recommend.
My girls and I had such a good time, I found this place on Trip advisor as we needed somewhere close to the theatre to have a pre-theatre meal and I booked on the day for three of us. As we were in a little bit of a rush we had the set menu which was incredible value for money, the rice was so delicious with sprinklings of saffron and I had the sea bass which was just perfect. I could start talking about the dessert but I fear the keyboard on which I type would die with the level of salvation alone. All awesome and we plan to go back very soon. Oh and the staff were awesome and couldn’t do enough to help us. We explained we had to be in and out quickly due to the show and they made that happen without it feeling rushed. Love it – double thumbs up! Oh and it looks better than the pictures online!
I have always enjoyed dining at Patara however my most recent experience at Patara Berners Street was average. The service was not at a level you would expect from this type of restaurant. It took at least 15 mins before we were offered to order our drinks. Prawn crackers were only served once you had ordered your main meal where as I am used to these being served as soon as you are seated. The food was satisfactory but their customer service could do with a lot of improvement. I did not feel like I was at a high end Thai restaurant at all-it was all very mediocre. We had booked the restaurant on a 50% off main and starter when you order 2 mains and 2 starters. When the bill came this wasn't taken into account and I had to inform the waitress. Although the bill was changed without any fuss this is not what is expected of this type of restaurant. With the food being so expensive and there being a 12.5 % service charge I expected a much better experience. With regret I will not be dining at the Berners Street Patara again and would prefer to eat at the Soho/Oxford street restaurant.
Very good service (although suffering from the current trend of interrupting your conversation to ask you 3-4 times during your meal if everything is OK, which is excessive and rather annoying), and very nice ambience. But the menu has changed substantially from the extensive one they had for years in their other branches, to a much more limited one - apparently this change has happened in all the branches, according to their website. The quality of the food is still good, but nothing like the amazing, unparalleled one of the past. Still a lovely restaurant, if you've never been before, but for the rest of us quite a disappointment.
The restaurant ambience is very stylish & service was excellent. We enjoyed our starters, satay, duck spring rolls and salt & pepper calamari very much, but the main courses didn't quite live up to what preceded them. The beef was a bit on the tough side & the duck very chewy. The wine also needs sorting out, we ordered one bottle & then were told it was out of stock, the next choice was in stock, but after we finished it and asked for another bottle we were told that we'd had the last one, perhaps Christmas had been exceptionally busy!
Excellent restaurant. Amazing Thai food in a beautiful setting, staff were impeccable and the the food was fabulous! The set menu gave you a chance to experience the best of the menu and we were not disappointed. We were celebrating getting married in Thailand 1 year ago and being in Patara was the next best thing to being in Thailand itself
nice restaurant, It is a chain so the food is not the best or authentic. I did find the portions to be tiny for the lunch meals, so beware. What put me off was 1 our waiter did not have much knowledge on the menu and our food was served by one waiter who had this really BAD body odour, and was terrible when he was putting our food down on the table, getting drinks, we got the smell so bad. - bit worrying how your food would be cooked. Also when we finished our meal we spent ages waiting for someone's attention and paying for our food. All the waitresses were nice and friendly but not sure about waiters.
