Authentic cuisine and a commitment to great service is what makes Pera the talk of Edinburgh. This beloved restaurant focuses on the traditional, offering diners flavours that have defined Turkish cuisine throughout the centuries. Specialising in mangal (Turkish barbecue) and meze, this restaurant has something for every diner whether they are a vegetarian, meat lover or a dedicated foodie. You’ll find the restaurant down Bonnington’s Elm Row, just moments from the Edinburgh Playhouse, Regent Gardens and bustling New Town. Recommended dishes here at Pera include charcoal-grilled main courses such as tavuk sis, kuzu kaburga (lamb ribs) or their vegetarian sebzeli kebab. On the other hand, meze like halloumi and sucuk, calamari and hummus with homemade pastrami are also not to be missed. Discover more by booking ahead at this local favourite.
Tiny, slightly scruffy, but the food is excellent - freshly made and amazing flavours. Cold meze were varied and delicious. Charcoal grill platter for two would have fed four. Minced lamb on smoked aubergine with walnuts, ordered just because it was something we hadn’t seen before, was the surprise favourite dish. Lively atmosphere and friendly service.
A delightful experience from start to finish - divine food and wonderful service from the lovely owner/chef. We think it is the best Turkish food we have ever had, and we will be back soon!
Small initimate restaurant, high quality home cooked food. Highly recommend this dining experience. Would definately go back and as not licenced you take your own choice of drink for small corkage charge.
