Porterhouse Steakhouse

We've been a few times before thus know they're consistently good - but the Porterhouse steak was cooked perfectly, the chips crispy and tasty as ever, and our sides of roast vegetables and red cabbage accompanied our steak beautifully. Very happy indeed.

Another excellent meal with great service. Steaks cooked to perfection and a comprehensive choice of accompaniments. The peppercorn sauce is a particular treat. Very enjoyable evening.

Has to be my favourite place to eat. Best steak I have eaten. Food was perfect, wine was excellent and the service was spot on. Even the bill was fair. Highly recommend

It was ok. Not the best I have had and not worst. Service was good but not excellent, starter was amazing and went downhill from there..main was ok, disappointed that it was frozen chips, fried and steak was slightly undercooked.. dessert was awful, Obviously microwaved sponges rather than described menu!

Very quiet on entry but soon filled up. we had been before but our guest was a newcomer. He had eaten in many countries but always thought British steakhouses overcooked their steaks. when he arrived and sampled his fillet his face almost lit up. Perfectly cooked. no need to say anymore

Very tasty food and in good quality. Attentive and friendly service. The food came hot and we didn't have to wait long for it. Clearly recommendable.

Our meal was lovely , everything fresh and well cooked . The service was great and we couldn’t of had a better night. We are already planning another trip back!!

Great service great atmosphere. Incredible food. 2nd time at the Portherhouse. Will definitely be going back for a third time. Can’t fault anything about the experience.

Overall a great restaurant, a little pricey but service was good and attentive. Food was great and good sized portions. Was not so busy, a nice atmosphere.

We enjoyed our steaks but felt they were overpriced if you compare with Gauchos. Good service though. Would go again if we are in Winchester

Excellent service and attention to detail, very comfortable and welcoming ambience in the restaurant. Steaks are tender, juicy and full of flavour. Would definitely recommend trying a Porterhouse steakhouse.

Having been recommended we took friends here on Saturday at lunchtime. The food, service and menu choice for the set lunch was excellent and we shall be returning.

The restaurant was fairly empty but the staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered a bread basket and this was very lovely. We had the porterhouse steak. This was smaller than the last times I have visited and had this both lengthways and in thickness. I usually cannot finish it but on this occasion, could and was still a bit hungry! Nevertheless, it was cooked perfectly and very tasty (explaining why I wanted more)!

The porterhouse steak for 2 was cooked perfectly! Staff was very attentive. We were permitted to substitute salads or baked potatoes for chips. Steak tartare starter was outstanding! Thanks.

Food was excellent, service was really attentive, and the meal well-priced. Location is extremely convenient for theatre and centre of Winchester - plus it's on the way to the station for a quick meal along the way. Might be a good idea to let the staff know if you're on a bit of a tight schedule. But that's the sign of freshly prepared food!

Lovely food, fantastic service highly recommend. we had a lovely 3 course lunch here today and will definitely be back again in the near future.

Had a great meal with my wife. We always come here for a good steak and are never disappointed. Could do with a sweet potato fries option instead of just regular fries.

Really enjoyed three course set menu. Only one small criticism and that was the roast veg. All four of us had different amounts of the different veg and some of us had none of some of the veg on offer.

Very friendly and professional staff accompanied an excellent meal. We return time and time again to the Porterhouse for a wonderful evening out every time.

Incredible food - both steaks cooked perfectly and wasn’t delicious. Staff were a bit over-attentive and almost didn’t leave us alone, but we felt looked after none the less

Chips very disappointing as felt were frozen not hand cut etc. Sirloin steak tough in places. Ladies toilets very very cold no heating.loud Bad language from next table.

Fantastic food and service. Would highly recommend. Mid week special was good value too. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and we even had chocolates with the bill!

Lovely restaurant great staff and for me a big plus is the tables for two are much bigger than the average tables you get in other restaurants. The steaks are excellent would highly recommend

The food was good quality and the served well presented. The service was prompt and staff were attentive. Will visit again soon and recommend to friends.

Welcome was good on arrival, seated quickly. Waiter was some what strange. Food was nice and well cooked however imo pretty over priced for what it is. I know sirloin has a good amount of fat on it but both our steaks had 1/4 of what was on the plate as inedible fat, £25.95 for the luxury. Would go again but not in a hurry (currently in talks to remortgage first)
