Provender Cafe Bistro

I think this has to be considered a top rate restaurant. Provender serves consistently excellent food at reasonable prices and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

A week after our first visit and we were back again - this time with our gift voucher! Can't fault the whole dining experience. Staff, food and atmosphere were all above par. Will be visiting again soon.

Lovely ambiance, friendly and efficient staff & most importantly the food was delicious. We will definitely be coming back. The vegetarian tagine was amazing and set menu had plenty of options

Decent lunch, but mussels mainly not open so disappointing. Needed another minute! Usually very good so I will forgive and will be back again soon.

Second visit here. Great friendly service and delicious food. Skipped starters and went straight into fillet steak with a recommend glass of red which went together perfectly.

Croissants had the texture and consistency of bread. It made the taste very unpleasant. Get a new supplier. Staff were great as was the food.

Excellent Sunday lunch. The restaurant was buzzing - it is very popular at the weekends and the Sunday lunch is always busy. Justifiably so. The food and service were first class. Highly recommended

Quite noisey but staff very attentive and it was interesting to see the owner joining in with the clearing of tables , and the toppling up of the wine classes

Good food, lovely staff. Excellent service. Really accommodating attitude. Ambiance wise the lighting was a little bright with downlighters that irritate if you wear specs. The staff did kindly try to dim the lights but then they flickered so we moved table which was slightly better

We love this place, classic warm and friendly. The food is amazing! The sharing starter is one we always go for... lots of different meats and fishes. A great selection. We moved away from the area about a year ago but love coming here if we are in the area. The only reason why it did my get a full 6/6 was because the butter was cold so couldn’t spread and my chips we a bit to double cooked and too crunchy! But as always lovely service and great food and great atmosphere

Really nice food and good service. We felt there were lots of good choices on the menus. Our only tiny grip was that our coffee came before the dessert which was a bit strange but it was delicious coffee!

Overall great food and good service. One side dish was forgotten (dauphinois) and when it turned up the potato was not tender enough for a decent sign off. That said, the venison was cooked excellently and the tuna steak ordered was perfectly medium as ordered. The pear and fig tart for dessert was also of excellent quality and bake. One thing that Provender should really work on though is its demeanour to customers. We're not actually in Paris so I'd expect a little more smile / joie de vivre; then the place really would make for a perfect experience.

Another great meal at Provender. The restaurant was packed which can only be a really positive sign given it was a Monday Onion soup was sublime. Steak very good but underseasoned. Dessert was delicious

I have been to Provender many times and the food and service never disappoints. I visit at lunchtime and always choose from the set menu, which is very good value.

Friends Birthday Lunch We had the roast dinner (pork and beef) roast potatoes didn’t seem fresh and hot and the Yorkshire pudding was quite hard. I have eaten here before and was not disappointed but not happy with this meal don’t think I would return for a Sunday lunch.

Friendly staff and nice, simple French food. Acoustics make it difficult to hear when the restaurant is full but there was a nice family atmosphere.

It's a pleasure to eat at the Provender. The owner is always making sure to provide a very good service to his customers and the food is excellent for a reasonable price. One of the hidden jewel of Wansted.

This was my second visit to this restaurant, the first being earlier in the year for my birthday. I was highly impressed and so took a close friend on this occasion. We both enjoyed the excellent food and the friendly but professional service. The first time I went was a busy Saturday night when the restaurant was full. This second time the place was empty when we arrived for a mid-week lunch. But on both occasions I was struck by the intimate atmosphere which added to the first class eating experience.

Lovely local restaurant. Can always be relied upon for good food and service. Good food cooked well, menu tweaked with the seasons. Good wine list. Friendly service.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Service good, food of high quality, unhurried. Particularly enjoyed the pear and fig tartine with ice cream. Pinot Noir was of very good value.

The Staff were all extremely helpful and efficient . Food was excellent when we visited for Brunch on Sunday. All the Staff remembered who had ordered what, which I think is quite rare these days !

Once again we enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy with every table occupied. A testament to the deserved popularity of this bistro.

Every time we went to eat at Provender the food was great, there is a nice selection of wines, also lovely atmosphere and super friendly staff. It is always a pleasure to eat there.

Excellent food, great wine, lovely atmosphere. Accommodated a shared starter, (great smoked shrimp) and a fussy steak eater, (just under medium) without even a gallic shtug. But answer me this. Why is it only the French can do creamed spinach?

We go often and the standard of food and service is unfailingly high. interesting menu too, with some unusual dishes. .It is always best to book.
