We have been using Provender for many years - it remains consistently good. Great menu, wine list and service impeccable. Relaxed and very cosy atmosphere.

We go to Provender regularly. Excellent food and great service as usual. It's difficult to add anything more to this but have to make up 25 words!

Good service, good food, reasonably priced. Set menu has variety and is excellent value. Proper French food, served by French friendly staff. Arrived very early for our reservation but it was not a problem.

Really good food, set lunch is a reasonable price. Good service. The French onion soup is the best I have ever had anywhere and the steak cooked to perfection . A must to dine at

Service and ambience very good. We chose three enjoyable courses from the set menu, wine and coffee for £33 pp which is very good value. Altogether a very pleasant experience & will revisit.

I booked a table and when we arrived the table was on another level when I explained my friend could not climb steps they gave us a table on the ground floor even though the Bistro was busy. We have a lovely meal and the set menu is really value for money. Just remember to book. Staff fantastic and food excellent.

Lovely food and service. Would definitely recommend and will return. Especially enjoyed the prawns, steak and sherry trifle. There are many restaurants in this area but no French restaurants which makes a pleasant change.

Lovely French bistro, unpretentious, warm and efficient service. Nice range of dishes and drinks. The prix fixe lunch was quite a good bargain. The place was full at lunch on a sunny Saturday.

Lovely menu with great variety. Staff are polite and friendly but not intrusive. Restaurant is well presented clean and family friendly. Pleasant experience for us as a couple.

It was very similar to Cotes brasserie but useful to have on local high street surprised they sent us a cancellation notice for our booking when we were just 5 mins late!

Another successful visit to the lovely Provender for Sunday lunch. My friend and I ordered a carafe of rose and then had two starters each, followed by a dessert. The staff are always very helpful and don't mind what you order from their comprehensive menu. I often order two different starters at lunchtime and no main course, as the mains are quite filling and it's a good way to try different things from the menu. We'll be back!

Consistently excellent ! good quality ingredients professional staff a real gem. Varied menu great specials and a really nice no fuss relaxed ambience. Had the Sunday lunch, pork belly really tasty with a wonderful gravy, Yorkshire pud and trimmings ..... fab

Authentic French bistro in Wanstead. Either Prix fixe or a la carte menu offers a very good choice. Staff are very welcoming and attentive. Altogether, a very enjoyable experience.

Provender was wonderful for a leisurely weekday lunch. I stuck to the Prix Fixe menu and my sister ordered a la carte. Those with hearty appetites might want to stick to a la carte but the Prix Fxe was fine for me. The rillettes were just right as starter and the cheese souffle tasty and well balanced. My sister was very satisfied with her smoked prawns and foie de veau and my trifle was a good finish to the meal, though I was a bit envious of my sisters cafe gourmand - coffee accompanied by tasters of a selection of deserts.

The food excuisite, the service efficient, polite and attentive, and the atmosphere lovely. If you love French dining you'll be hard pushed to find a nicer restaurant.

What a great lunch! Good food, well cooked and presented, with excellent wines by the glass. Pleasant atmosphere and convenient location. We’re already planning a return visit.

Very nice food, charming staff. They didn't bat an eyelid when we arrived sopping wet from the thunderstorm. The bill was reasonable, we had main courses, desserts, wine and beer. A good range of dishes on the menu, from steaks to rabbit to fish, plus vegetarian options that a member of my part described as delicious. A very pleasant experience - and you could converse without shouting.

Excellent value prix fixe. Super service. Brilliant virgin Mary. We're looking forward to trying their Sunday lunch which has been strongly recommended. Best in the area.

Simply magnifique! Provender never fails. Wonderful Sunday, anniversary, lunch. Stupendous Côte de boeuf, béarnaise sauce etc. Chose the ‘Royal’ sharing platter to start snd managed to squeeze in a little sharing dessert selection after the main event. With friendly, smiley, helpful service and a joy filled atmosphere, Provender is the absolute jewel in Wanstead’s crown!

I have been here several times, great food, great service, lovely wine. I went with some family members and they had one criticism - it is too far away from where they live (in Devon) to go regularly

Delicious food and reasonably priced; the staff were friendly and welcoming. Lovely ambience. My husband and I had the soup, ceviche, lobster risotto and halibut (with caviar!) and it was a very satisfying meal. Highly recommended!
