For over five decades, Rajdoot Tandoori is where Birmingham locals have convened to enjoy some of the best curries the city has to offer. Found on George Street right at the edge of the Jewellery Quarter, Rajdoot is centrally located in the city for curry lovers from all over town, and makes for the perfect setting for a romantic date, a sophisticated dinner party or an intimate reunion of friends. You’ll find it along George Street only moments from Birmingham Town Hall, Barclaycard Arena and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Owing to the restaurant’s legendary status, booking ahead is a an absolute must at this popular Indian restaurant.
This is one of our favourite restaurants as the high standards set are always maintained. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive staff, good choice of dishes which are well presented & very tasty.
The food, service and surroundings are second to none. Not cheap, but as ever in life you get what you pay for and worth every penny. Would definitely come back.
Had a great time! The food was excellent. The staff were fantastic and the restaurant a lovely environment! We would highly recomend going here. We will definately go again.
Great service great food staff were very helpful and great location recommend and value for money various surroundings for parking your car close to the restaurant
We went for our 10th anniversary meal so were expecting something really special from what we had heard. Firstly being asked to order your meal in bar/foyer area isnt really my idea of special but ok moved on from that. Then went to sit at our table and were being put squashed up in a corner where we would be seated 90 degrees to each other, hardly a romantic setting. Seated elsewhere with little fuss to be fair. As i was driving only had the one beer so asked for a jug of ice water. Came with no ice and when i asked for some was told its already chilled. Food was good and prices a little more than you would usually pay but overall portion sizes could be a little larger. Bill came and paid by card but then noticed a charge for wine which we didnt have. A lot of fuss to refund me the cash which they calculated incorrectly and tried to give me €’s instead of £’s. Overall a nice restaurant with good food but didnt have that wow factor i was looking for and service needs improving.
I consider the Rajdoot Tandoori as one of the premier 'Indian' restaurants in the city. The welcome is always very friendly & the menu extensive - you're spoilt for choice. Irrespective of what you order the dish presented exceeds expectations. If my wallet & waistband would allow , I'd eat hear most nights of the week.
I was early, at 1800, so it took a while for the food to arrive (30 mins). The quality of the food was very good and I have no complaints. However, it is perhaps a bit pricey - given that a pint of Cobra was £4.50 and a main course nearly £13 and that did not include rice, sides, bread, etc. It is a personal thing, but I also hate the compulsory 10% service charge added to the bill - this should always be at the patron's discretion - depending upon the quality of the actual service received. I accept, though, that this is inner-city Birmingham and prices probably refeletc that location. I will, however, be going again!
It's been many a year (~15) since I last went to the Rajdoot, which in our experience had always been good. So we arranged our return for a family celebration and it was with some trepidation that perhaps my memories were somewhat rose tinted. I am happy to say that everyone left saying how good the food was. We shall definitely return and I shall not wait another 15 years!
Always a warm welcome. The menu spoils for choice & it doesn't matter what you order you know it's going to be very tasty & satisfying. We consider the Rajdoot Tandoori to be the best Indian restaurant in town & it's always a treat. This occasion was the same as all of our previous - excellent. We look forward to our return.
The Rajdoot is one of our favourite restaurants. The restaurant itself is decorated with many fine examples of homeland reminders which adds to the overall atmosphere. The staff are always very pleasant, courteous & professional. The food is North Indian 'fine' dining with dishes excellently presented, but more importantly - all taste superb. We're already looking forward to our return.
