Serving up award-winning steaks in a South American-style, Rancho is a mecca for meat lovers, with a number of different locations scattered across Hampshire, and you’ll find the Fareham branch located on West Street in the town centre. Importing the finest beef cuts from Argentina, Rancho are experts when it comes to serving up the perfect steak. Sink your teeth into the lomo de churrasco (thin spiral cut beef fillet marinated with fresh garlic and parsley), some Peruvian spiced cod or adobo chicken, or some other South American favourites like the fajitas or empanadas. There’s plenty of choices for veggies on the menu at Fareham’s Rancho too, so round up all your friends and book a table now!

I chose Rancho as somewhere ‘a little different’ for my friends birthday treat and unfortunately was left somewhat disappointed. The first negative was the lack of an alcohol licence, meaning we were told we could go next door to the newsagents and buy our own. If I was aware of this before I would have changed my booking (I queried why I hadn’t been contacted about this and was told that they didn’t have my contact details, which was obviously wrong as my details were included on my booking request and a confirmation email was sent to me!!) Our food wasn’t particularly hot, considering we were 2 of 6 people in the restaurant. Despite the steak and ribs being very fatty, the food was tasty. We both felt rushed to pay and leave as we were asked repeatedly if we were ready to settle the bill. Lastly, on the website it says that a 10% service charge would be added to tables of 4 or more, there were only 2 of us, yet we had this added to our bill. A slightly disappointing experience unfortunately.
The food is cooked to perfection as usual and the staff were professional and attentive.
It just wasnt good enough for the price. We were charged service charge of 10% then asked if we wanted to leave a tip. The problem with liquor license is ridiculous, who wants to bring alcohol with them on a night out? We were only informed of this on the morning of valentine's day so we wouldn't be able to get a reservation anywhere else at short notice.
