They say that good things come in threes, but we’ll make a hearty exception in the name of Red Chilli II, the second incarnation of the famously spicy Wakefield restaurant that has been wowing locals at its unmissable, neon-lit premises up on Kirkgate for years. The food on offer is pan-Asian in character, with Asian fusion dishes and traditional Indian and Pakistani cuisine lined up on a menu as long as your arm and hotter than the surface of the sun. Naturally, the emphasis here is on spice, and there are few other restaurants in the town centre besides Red Chilli II that can satisfy the crippling need for heat that spice fiends the country over feel when the capsaicin levels in their blood plasma sink too low. Your best bet is to head for the fantastically good value buffet.
