The foodies of Liverpool are renowned for their love of curry, and with so many Indian restaurants in the city centre, the standard is exacting and the competition is fierce. Remora, on South Hunter Street on the fringes of the Georgian Quarter, nearHope Street, is among the finest in town, and their take on the cuisine unites all the traits of curry houses that we all know and love: a warm ambience, friendly staff a superb menu.
Remora is simple to find in the city centre: they’re on South Hunter Street in the Hope Street Quarter and close to the Georgian Quarter proper, behind the two Liverpool universities and between the two cathedrals. When you arrive, we suggest bringing your own alcohol – they’re BYO – and ordering up the usual selection of Indian starters: tandoori favourites are well represented here. The specials dominates the menu, and we can’t see further than it: go for the Remora Special Curry, the choice of the house, which includes chicken tikka, lamb tikka, meatballs and king prawns cooked up Bangladeshi-style.
