River Spice of Reading is exactly what it says on the tin: riverside Indian dining. Set just by the Thames on Caversham Road in the heart of the city, River Spice is a contemporary restaurant where the Indian food on offer goes way past the takeaway standards too often associated with Indian cuisine in Britain. The chefs here serve classics done with a River Spice twist as well as plenty of their own exciting creations, and the results are exceptional. The dining space itself is fresh and elegant, made even more pleasant by riverside views. Open seven days a week from midday until midnight, Reading’s River Spice is one of the best Indian restaurants around.
Second time going and We really enjoyed it just as much as the first time great food , great and staff it was very busy which is a good sign.
Great food and some interesting choices on the menu. All at very resoanble prices given the quality of the food and great location. Would happily go again.
We have visited this restaurant several times. The food is always great and the staff very attentive and friendly. Last nights visit (Christmas Eve) was no exception and we all had a lovely meal. This is always our go to Indian dining venue.
The booking online was easy to make, and from the moment of arriving all the waiters gave a friendly and courteous service. The food was fantastic: full of flavour, nicely presented, and good size portions. I've been 3 times before with other people and it's always been the same. That's why I always be happy to go again.
It’s been a while since we were at River Spice, and the greeting was as warm & enthusiastic as ever. The food is always so well presented, fresh and made with good quality ingredients. Add that to the prompt yet unhurried service and it makes for a great dining experience. River Spice remains one of our favourite dining spots in Reading. Highly recommended and good value.
Our group had not gone on a Sunday Buffet before and we would thoroughly recommend it especially for anyone who may be venturing into the world of new cuisine as our son was. There was a good choice of dishes plus plenty of sides including lots of vegetarian options. We have eaten here before with friends ordering from the main menu but would definitely say the quality does not diminish on the buffet offerings.
Excellent meal. The menu was exciting and had many unusual choices on it - especially for duck or fish eaters Exceptional staff. Looks fabulous inside - do not be put off by the exterior . Lovely river views
Very nice food, however had to wait over an hour for it as we ordered from the menu on a Sunday when they have the buffet. Expensive for drinks, lemonade just poured from a plastic £1:00 bottle and didn't even pour me a full glass. Will visit again as the food is very nice.
Usually very good service and food but it was very busy so we had to wait for our mains and drinks .They did say at the end they were a couple of staff down so that could be the reason why .Food very good and location excellent Will go back again
Exceptional rogan josh, different from the normal. Lovely view, which makes a change from most Indian restaurants. Watch out for popudums, they brought more than ordered, but they charged us correctly.
