A really lovely meal in nice surroundings. Helpful and attentive staff looked after us. The only minor gripe was that they brought the dishes slightly too quickly. Otherwise excellent.
A good restaurant with a romantic atmosphere. However it's always hard to do fine dining and while the cooking was reasonably good it lacked flavours. A big bowl of pumpkin foam/cream to start just really didn't taste of much and the texture was sloppy. Not being a goats cheese lover the second course was not a choice I would normally pick, however the maitre de insisted I try it. My partner however liked it. The monkfish course was good and well cooked and well seasoned but again the flavours didn't wow. The duck was also well cooked but I think pairing it with a mild taste of lavender a mistake. I am never sure about lavender on food (I only have had it once successfully). Having a different wine with every course didn't work for me but that was my mistake. I am fussy about wine and I particularly dos-like sweet wines. The normal wine list did look pretty good . Desert went down well with my date. Worth a visit for sure and not expensive considering but don't expect exquisite, expect good.
Fantastic night at a lovely restaurant. Food was superb and service excellent. We will definitely return soon and look forward to sampling some more of the delicious Rowley's food.
The food was outstanding, certainly the best around Derby and not too far away from Sat Bains. The addition of the selected wines made for a very special evening. The staff were superb. Just give it a try!!
