Serving hearty dishes in a cosy ambience, dining at Sabor Iberico is a bit like dining in your own home, if you had your own private chef to rustle up some artisan Spanish cuisine for you, that is. The perfect setting for an evening spent sharing some tapas and wine with friends, this homely restaurant near the Barbican Centre on Whitecross Street pulls in crowds from all over the central London area, so be sure to make a reservation in advance!
At Sabor Iberico the food is full of flavour, the wine is ever flowing and the atmosphere is lively, giving diners an authentic Spanish experience in central London. With its stylish decor and amazing hospitality, Sabor Iberico on Whitecross Street is a popular choice for those seeking out some sunny Spanish charm in the capital, and when you taste the food on offer here you will instantly feel like you’ve been transported away from the stark surrounds of the Barbican to some little rural Spanish town.
Selecting a range of small tapas plates to share will allow you to sample a number of dishes on the menu, and there’s no shortage of them to choose from. We love the crispy pork belly with pickled vegetables, fried tiger-prawns with garlic and chilli, and burrata with confit tomato, oregano and serrano ham. Also worth trying is the selection of premium Spanish cured meats, like the acorn-fed Iberian chorizo, all washed down with a bottle of quality Spanish wine. With its central London location close to Barbican tube station, Sabor Iberico is known to get busy – book your table in advance to avoid disappointment!
Absolutely excellent - the service, the food, the wine, the atmosphere. Great success all round. Very accommodating as we were a bit late after a Barbican concert. We will be back
Very easy to make reservation, very friendly staff, good food in pleasant atmosphere for lunch (portions quite large so bear that in mind). Will go again
Delicious food nicely presented. Something had gone a bit wrong with portion control - masses of (delicious!) fried squid, but quite limited portion of (also delicious!) chicken. Also slight issue about getting the bill paid, when we were in a hurry to get to Barbican. But overall a really nice experience and will go there again.
Good food carefully prepared and well presented; friendly staff but not quite capable of dealing with the early-evening rush. Several staff are non-Spanish and don't seem familiar with the menu.
We visited Sabor Iberico (as usual) prior to an event at the Barbican. As we were slightly late, we went for the easy choices, the sharing meat/cheese platter and the mixed tapas. Both were excellent as was the variety of breads we ordered to go with the food. Friendly service, a reasonable choice of Spanish wines by the glass, recommended.
Alba seems to have changed hands and has become a little less Italian in its menu and, whilst the decor is an improvement, the service is not quite a friendly or slick although they are trying. It still remains a good lunchtime place for a quick and well priced meal.
Alba is great in the Summer - they can open the glass at the fron of the restaurant to create a 'street' feel. Food was as always excellent with friendly and swift service
Friendly service, nice meal (although the menu seemed less Italian than usual), not bad value. A good choice in the area. Reasonable choice of wines by the glass.
The restaurant has a sensible and quite excellent menu with the food served by friendly and helpful staff. It is reasonably expensive but good value for money
The service was great, the food yummy and wine delish! Will definitely return and highly recommend it. It is very close to the Barnican centre too.
