As always....great food great service and great atmosphere even with the cloud of corona virus hanging over our heads.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the Mediterranean may seem to be millions of miles apart, but San Lorenzo is bringing a bit of Italian charm to the foodies of Gosforth with its authentic Italian offerings. Start off with some antipasti like the parfait della casa (homemade chicken liver parfait served with chutney and toast), the ali di pollo (spiced chicken wings tossed in garlic and parmesan with chipotle mayo) or the calamari fritti. Pizza lovers are in luck at San Lorenzo, with the extensive menu boasting an array of authentic options, all made from scratch using an authentic Italian recipe. Some of our favourites include the bianco (a white base of bechamel and Fior de Latte mozzarella topped with wild mushrooms, fresh thyme and truffle oil) and the orinentele (a tomato and hoisin base with confit duck, spring onion, cucumber ribbons and mozzarella).
Other delicious choices on the menu at Newcastle’s San Lorenzo include a range of classic Italian pasta, meat and seafood dishes, from spaghetti bolognese to orato (pan-fried sea bream with sweet potato, fennel, shellfish, cannellini bean stew and garlic crostini). Situated right on Gosforth’s High Street, San Lorenzo’s location couldn’t be more convenient for when the cravings for some comforting, home-style Italian cuisine start to kick in. To guarantee a table at San Lorenzo’s Gosforth branch, making a reservation in advance is recommended!
