Dedicated to exploring and celebrating the cultural heritage of Syria, one of the world’s oldest and most precious food cultures, Shaam Nights on City Road lets guests experience the full beauty of Syrian cuisine, from authentic Middle Eastern basics like fattoush, moutabal (grilled aubergine with pomegranate) and baba ghannoogh, through hearty mains like moussaka, falafel and jawaneh, up to elaborate feasts fit for a king, caliph or sultan like an incredible whole roast lamb. The second reason that Roath’s Shaam Nights is unique in Cardiff is the decor and atmosphere. Shaam Nights is beautifully decorated with tiled floors, stained glass, bronze lanterns and plush cushioned seats, but it has an upmarket feel uncommon among the city’s Middle Eastern restaurants.
