The decor in the venue is amazing and unique from top to bottom. The food was good too but the service was quite slack. We had to ask for sauce several times before it was brought to our table. We had the vouchers but ordered an extra dish from the main menu and also had to remind them before it was brought to us. We also had to ask for steak knives as they were not provided with our steaks. Tte staff were however friendly and polite. The 3 course menu from the vouchers that we purchased online through groupon/buy a gift is not the same as the 3 course menu given at the restaurant. There were supplementary charges on 2 of the main courses, we then discussed this with the manager which he then agreed to take one of the them off. The side dishes were also priced incorrectly, online - £3.99, the restaurant - £5. As mentioned though, the cocktails & food was pleasant and tasty. The only other off putting thing was that there is a service charge of 12.5% automatically added to the bill which is fair enough if you have received good service but not fair when you've had several problems during the meal. Apart from the few hiccups, we did enjoy it.
This was my 4th evening at Shaka Zulu, and I've enjoyed every one of them!! The food is great, the staff friendly and the decor stunning. What more could you want? Mike.
Beautiful interior, extremely noisy long wait to be served. Food good. Service charge was for nothing, as there was no service. One time experience only.
Staff were very kind and polite. The food was good. Quite happy. Although the restaurant was full booked that I could not swap my booked table to downstairs my preferred option.
Waited a long time for the food to be be delivered and had to ask the waiter to see if they had forgotten our order. Also ordered a coffee afterwards which took ages to deliver. Most of the restaurant was closed off on a Tuesday night with everyone huddled into a very small area. Waiter kept interrupting conversation and at inappropriate times every few minutes and lingered uncomfortabalty long at table as if they had joined the meal. Food and venue decoration was good but for price could have eaten better somewhere else.
Amazing place, extraordinary decoration & atmosphere, we loved it. Avoid purchasing deals as set menu is limited and uninspired compared to the wide variety of South African specialities available à la carte.
Amazing art , food music customer service everything was just emasculate got what I wanted without and questions hesitations or bad manners towards me excellent place with great staff
When we arrived the receptionist could not find my booking which was for a Birthday surprise for a party of 5. She was not very helpful.
Unique experience. Excellent! Food good, restaurant fabulous, would like to try an evening there.
Amazing place, the food was really good (a bit expensive though) and they have a wide wine menu.
The atmosphere was outstanding but the selection of typically South African food is limited. Also there was hardly African music.
Really nice restaurant amazing decor food was good. Service let down the restaurant in terms of waiting around and staff were unprofessional
We enjoyed the experience, food and venue, would definitely recommend.
The food was absolutely delicious and couldn't fault it, however we were made to feel like we wasnt as important and felt this was because we chose to have the set menu, we had to wait 45 minutes to even get asked for our first set of drinks, we had our food before we even drank anything, we then waited a further 30 minutes for a second drink.
Slightly disappointed with the food, which was almost European in terms of choice and not authentic enough. Food also lacked flavour, the highlight was the desserts. The passion fruit creme brûlée was delicious. However the restaurant has a stunning interior and lively atmosphere, which made up for the poor food. Our waiter was an absolute star (Kane) and I was happy that a birthday request for my partner was remembered and he was served with a yummy mini chocolate birthday cake for dessert with a candle and his name/birthday message written in chocolate sauce on the plate. Happy to visit again, but would try something different on the menu and hope for a seat in the main restaurant downstairs, rather than upstairs in the bar area.
Amazing food but unbelievably slow service. It took two and a half hours to serve a 3 course set menu. We had to repeatedly ask for the drinks we had ordered some of which never appeared by the time we finished our second course. Very disappointed overall. There are better restaurants in Camden so I really wouldn't bother with Shaka Zulu unless you have a lot of time and cash to spare.
