Lovely food! The restaurant is right across the road from the Edinburgh Playhouse so perfect for a dinner before going for your show. The service was very attentive and the food was spectacular. Will definitely be back!

Food was lovely and the service was great. Felt like the waiters were a bit too keen for us to order quickly at the start but otherwise a great meal

Worst experience ever by a extremely rude waiter. We had a confirmed reservation but the waiter told us you had a time lag om reservations so we had to wait like 40 minutes. When i replayed that this was really bad service he became really angry and followed us shouting as we left. I had my wife and to girls with me so this was a very unpleasant experience indeed.

Been here many times to sit in and for takeaways - superb on all fronts - my favourite Indian restaurant in Edinburgh - easy to see why they have won so many awards

Felt really rushed to place our order as soon as we arrived and the food itself was okay, not worth the £71 that was charged for it. Bit of a rip off that they charge for poppadoms as well, because they ask if you woulr like them as if they’re on the house and then they slap it on the bill.

Ordinary. Was expecting big things from wat was described as one of Edinburgh's leading Curry houses. Only one dish out of 6 was tasty. How can any Indian restaurant serve HP Sauce with poppadoms?

We were expecting one of the best Indians in Edinburgh but sadly it wasn’t that good. Just average Indian in a very loud and crowded place

Fantastic from start to finish. Wait staff were lovely, we had great service and the food was delicious, and despite us booking the ore theatre menu we were give the entire menu to choose from and out in plenty of time for our show. We will definitely be back here in the future.

Lovely meal with incredible service. We shared a "main size" Spinach dish and Lamb Karahi; both were awesome. Be sure to ask for one portion of rice for each diner! Really recommend this restaurant

Service was appalling, slow and got simple things wrong. Food was mis described, everything we tried was very hot, despite assurances of mild-medium... and potions were quite small. Was offered 15% discount, on an overpriced meal, won’t be returning!

We visited on a very busy Saturday night. Unfortunately, the restaurant had no note of our booking. Luckily I had brought a copy of our booking reference and we were able to get a table. The food was very nice but some things were on the expensive side e.g. £4.95 for dips to go with the poppadoms which I thought a bit dear. The pakora starters were excellent. The four of us all enjoyed our main courses. 2 Tikka dishes and 2 Bhoona dishes. The various breads we had were all freshly made and very tasty especially the Tandoori Roti bread. It was very large as well and good value. As I said before, a really nice meal but quite expensive but maybe that is the normal for a restaurant in Edinburgh compared to my local Indian Restaurant, Torranyard in Ayrshire where we are probably spoiled with a great restaurant and great prices.

Shezan is a highly popular, award-winning Indian restaurant, handily directly opposite the Edinburgh Playhouse. The staff are pleasant, welcoming and attentive. The menu is mixed and varied, something for all tastes. For us, though, there was too much heat in everything, which masks the natural tastes and flavours. Maybe that's the way the regulars like it, but for us it was slightly too much. Shezan is an excellent family-run restaurant though, so if you like your food with a bit of a kick, then this is the place for you!
