Really Excellent food. Very Good staff. Our Table was as requested.
We booked a table for 1.00 but arrived at 12.30 and, as it was a very hot day, we sat in the garden instead of at our reserved table. The staff were friendly and very accommodating and were happy for us to do this. The food was excellent and arrived with sufficient time for us to relax and have a drink beforehand. The nut roast was fabulous with a lovely refreshing, citrus taste but although the menu said that it came with a choice of potatoes it actually came with chips. I think I would have preferred new potatoes (and I am sure that they would have supplied these instead if we had asked). but nevertheless I was still very happy with the meal. My husband's Asian Salmon was wonderful too.
Pleased that I could have a half portion. The only problem was that the people at the next table were very noisy.
Pleasant service & good food, table by front door was small & constant traffic to bar was the only let down . But wont stop us going back ! not many places in the district can offer such a choice of menu of proper pub grub as The Skim. !
Just moved to the area we made our first visit to the Skimmington last week and were Back a week later . Need I say more ? Amazing , right up our street .
Food nice but very bad service as we had to wait about an hour and fifteen minutes for our meal. Even though we booked table for six two weeks earlier. There was absolutely no acknowledgement by staff as we waited for our meal. Won’t go again.
After so many disappointing places recently for a traditional pub lunch with a best friend The Skimmington ticked all the right boxes, & nothing to find fault with . The portions are more than generous so maybe next time we will share a starter & main for lunch to be able to enjoy a dessert!
Disappointed on this occasion as all specials sold out. Have usually visited lunch times and not evening. Food we had was good but not what we would have chosen has there been more choice.
Great food, friendly staff, dog friendly. A lovely evening. Will definitely return.
Made to feel very welcome on arrival at this very unusual venue food excellent choice and freshly cooked delicious !! Hope to be back very soon
This is a central point for the family to meet. Our first time and very pleased we have found it. It was warm enough to sit outside and the 3 crab salads were excellent. It is rightly a popular pub restaurant and so we had to wait a bit for the food. Good to have a choice of guest ales.
Very enjoyable visit in terms of meeting an old friend for the first time in a very long time! Would have preferred more choices of conventional fish dishes
2 płus a dog, we quite liked the fact that the pub is dog friendly
Delicious !!! very good pub athmosphere. I def recommend. Great value for money.
Great food, excellent service, beautiful surroundings, welcoming landlord & great beer!
Always brilliant!!! A perfect location for an al fresco lunch. Unendingly friendly as well
Lovely food, lovely beer and lovely staff. Will be back.
Brilliant traditional country pub with excellent range of well-cooked food.
Generally very good. We have been there before and we will visit again.
This was one of favorite pubs. Sadly it is crossed off the list for evening meals at least. Arrived 6pm on 5 Jue but did not get our main course until after 7pm. At the time we arrived there appeared to be only 6 tables occupied so although the table service was attentive the food took much to long to arirve and in my opinion was of poorler quality than previously
The 'Skim' has confined space and low ceilings so appears somewhat lacking in light on dank damp evenings but the food is very good and provided at competitive price making for a worthwhile enjoyable experience
What a lovely pub - starts off with ample parking and it just gets better! We had booked a table but it was very noisy so the very pleasant Polish waitress moved us to a quieter corner. There was a varied Specials Board but the menu itself was varied and plentiful. The waitress did a wonderful job as she had 2 rooms to look after but the service was cheerful, quick and efficient - most importantly, the food was excellent. Really recommend this 17th Century pub, most enjoyable evening.
Gotta be the best Sunday lunch ever. Every aspect of the roasts are cooked to perfection Lovely pub steeped in history. Fantastic hosts that really make you welcome
