Hop off at the Sutton central train station, head just a few minutes south down Brighton Road and, if the wind’s right, you’ll soon be following your nose in pursuit of the aroma of traditionally charcoal grilled Turkish cuisine courtesy of Sofra Grill & Restaurant. A casual but refined Middle Eastern venue located in Sutherland House, on the corner of Brighton and Cedar Road, Sofra Grill & Restaurant takes its name from the low tables from which the Ottomans traditionally took their repast. Indeed, tradition dictates everything this restaurant does, from the charcoal grill to the decor to the typical sense of Turkish hospitality. Expect a warm and courteous welcome and food bursting with the healthful colour and flavour of old Anatolia. We particularly recommend the set menus and, if you’re looking for an affordable way in to Sofra’s exceptional offering, the Monday and Tuesday night specials – a three-course Turkish feast for two for a fantastically good price.
The staff are polite and despite the restaurant being busy they were very prompt in taking orders and bringing food and drink to the table. Food is of a good quality and in our group we all ordered different starters and mains and every single one of us enjoyed them.
Really nice interior setting, went for lunch with a group of colleagues. We went for the lunch deal £10 for drink, starter and main. Were not disappointed food was tasty and portions were larger than expected. House white was good :)
