For the whole evening our table of 4 were the only customers in the restaurant. They seemed to concentrate on takeaway orders and virtually ignored us for long periods. When we did eventually get served with our meals they were actually very good and enjoyed by all.

We have been going to this restaurant for several years now as the food is good. However on this occasion the owner unilaterally decided to close the restaurant and go home because we were 15 minutes late for our reservation. It was only 9pm! But they had no other customers. I have written to the restaurant but so far received no reply.

When I first lived in Southsea (1997) this restaurant used to be called the Midnight Tandoori and was excellent. I booked on Saturday 16th March for a special occasion and It was awful. We arrived on time, were seated and given stale poppadoms and a chutney, pickle and onion tray. The presentation of the menu was amateur, printed out A4 pieces of paper in a display folder, and very sticky. We placed our order but an hour passed with no sign of food. On enquiry we were told it would be a little while longer. All we had ordered was 1 starter, 1 main and a bread to arrive at the same time. We were advised that there were a lot of takeaways that evening, clearly to the detriment of the guests eating in the establishment who were treated like second rate citizens. I would suggest they concentrate on being a delivery service as they certainly aren't set up to be a restaurant. We left and went to Chill Lime in Havant where the food and service are always exceptional. We shall not be returning.

I am a regular at the Spice Route in Palmerston Road. The food is lovely and the staff are always helpful. Allied to that it is great that you can bring your own wine so all in all a fun time!

Very, very disappointed to arrive at the booked time to discover that 30, in one party exceptionally noisy (very) had just arrived before us and that there would be a considerable wait for food !!!!! Not informed prior to our time. Walked out, to again noisy cheering- probably the best thing we done. Will never return.

Have been here several times now and it just gets better. The staff are superb even remembering my daughters and nieces names which is a lovely touch. The food is outstanding and generous portions too. If you are unsure about a dish you are expertly guided by the staff. Thank you Spice route we will see you again soon.

Very nice food. Able to take your own wine which is great with Sainsbury's nearby. Good service throughout the meal. Handy location in Palmerston Road in Southsea.

Average Service, Average atmosphere and Average food. Ok all around but nothing to write home about. Didn't get any smiles from the staff and found the food a little bland. Hence only a 3 out of 6 rating.

Fantastic food and service. After a small initial confusion with our reservation we were seated within 10 minutes. The restaurant was fully booked and I can see why. Some different dishes on the menu. My husband had a beef dish and it was delicious. Would highly recommend. It’s also a ‘bring your own bottle’ which saved money.

Really great curry. Vegetarian options in the 'chefs specials' would be an improvement. Also the fairy lights along the wall were right at eye level and a bit bright.

Lovely food and friendly staff, very fresh and tasty! Although bit pricey especially for students. Food came out quickly and portion sizes were quite big! One thing that stood at was the variety of dishes on the menu in comparison to other Indian's in the area!

Excellent food enjoyed by the whole party. Brining your own drinks is made easy and makes the evening great value for money. Service was very good, although food took slightly too long to arrive. Overall we would return and I would highly recommend.

Had a great evening last Friday (20/10/17) at the Spice Route. We were visiting the area for the Great South Run and were relying on previous positive reviews to choose our dining venues. Excellent meal and service from Robin and Sorowar who we were informed was serving there for the first time!!!! Well done gents on an excellent dining out experience!!!! Mark & Kate from Rugby.

Good was generally good but wasn't as good as normal. Chilli Masala was disappoiting but all the curries were well spiced. Poppadums were not as fresh as normal; first set sent back and replaced immediately. Staff courteous.

We had great evening there. Food was delicious, service was excellent and we will definately visit again. There is the added bonus that you can take your own wine/beers which they were happy to keep chilled for us. I would highly recommend Spice Route.

Currently the best Indain Resturant in our opinion. Food is authentic Indian, expertly cooked, and the flavours are just great. Highly recommended and do feel free to try out their specials which are fantastic
