Food was nice bit pricey at £47.50 for 2 Sunday beef dinners and a bottle of Rose won't be eating there again sorry and very short staffed

Very poor. Bland food. Service friendly but I think they know it’s not a good food offering. Felt like pre prepped food with nothing freshly prepared.

We had a meal on Christmas eve. We were very disappointed in the minimal choice on the menu - I didn't realise that it was a Sunday menu(even on Christmas eve). Having said that what we did have was very tasty and enjoyable

Service fine but menu hard to read. Needs better, cheaper lunchtime menu. £7 is plenty but needs more choice. Check elsewhere. I eat in other pubs like the Windmill and The Scotts where the bar lunchtime menu is miles better. You used to be the same. And please, not that tatty piece of paper for the table, get a decent printer or have it done in town.

Food was nice but the starter couldn't decide if it was warm or cold and my main was stone cold compared to the others in my party. There was a big gap between all courses and to be honest the staff just didn't seem bothered. They ignored one of my party and gave her an incorrect order even though it was supposedly checked. I was very tempted to not pay. I don't know if I will go again.

Excellent breakfast before the Races. Warm and friendly service. Highly recommended. We're having dinner there tonight as atmosphere and service so good. Lovely log fire and superb menu.

Good service and great with kids, but food was not to normal standard... roast very chewy some elements missing and limited vegetables provided not good value at £12.95. Maybe a while before going back.

Having eaten here lots of times with brilliant food it was a disappointing meal . The steak pie was lovely but the duck was without sauce and a small portion the other main was without veg and poor . Will leave it a while before going again

Unable to review restaurant as kitchen was closed due to a gas issue. However the restaurant was efficient at communicating this to us. It is a shame that my guests had driven up from London and we to find somewhere else at short notice.

We were disappointed. The food appeared to have been stood around for a while, it was cold and the Yorkshire puddings were tough and mine was also quite burnt. Twice the waiter got the order wrong, was he listening as he wrote the order down? It would also be preferable to bring the child's meal out before the adults, 3 year olds don't have much patience, hungry 3 year olds have less patience. I guess it might have been a busy Easter Sunday but we were looking forward to our family Easter meal and we were underwhelmed. I don't think we will be back.

Attentive and helpful staff who were very flexible with the menu for our elderley parents who had specific food requirements. Portion size was just right and the food was excellent. Service between courses was rather slow hence the 5/6 rating but the pub was quite busy it being the Saturday before Mothering Sunday and we were a party of 10 so some delay is to be expected.

We had a lovely meal on good Friday. The staff were very friendly. There wasn't a problem when asked for no cheese crust on the chicken and it was still delicious. We would definitely go again.

Everything was lovely as usual and very accommodating of my requests at booking, the only thing stopping it get full marks this time was the dessert-the chocolate and popcorn terrene just wasn't up to the usual high standards. Thanks for a brilliant night!

Please can I just say firstly the food was spectacular. The best burgers we have ever had. Cooked to perfection as in not over done. Then your amazing team. Every person attending to us was marvellous. My daughter Emma who happens to have Down Syndrome said her meal was fantastic and told our waiter she wanted to see the chef. All I can say is it means the world to us that the young man who came out and spoke to Emma went above and beyond and deserves recognition for both being an amazing chef and a a fabulous person. We will now visit frequently as we only live in Boston Spa and had the most relaxing, stress free lunch ever. Thanks to you all xxx

Visited the Swan & Talbot for dinner with a friend. Everyone was very welcoming which made a lovely atmosphere. We both ate the steak pie which was excellent with delicious veg and fab home-made chips . I will definitely be going back and will probably order the steak pie again 😀 Jane

We stopped off here for Sunday lunch on our way home to Manchester from the north-east and had a lovely meal. The staff were great, attentive without being over-bearing; the food was good and there was plenty of it (I rarely leave anything on my plate but couldn't manage all of it); there was a decent selection of beers although I only tried the one; the whole experience was very positive and we would certainly consider stopping in if we are ever in the area again.

Starters and mains came out cold. Only 2 roast potatoes! Got the impression the food had been left on side for period of time prior to serving, wasn't even that busy

It is a very Cozy pub with a great range of drinks on tap and really friendly and knowledgeable bar staff. GF options and dog friendly were key to us visiting.
