Excellent Sunday roast. Staff were lovely and efficient. We will return and would happily tell others about it too. Children’s portion of the Sunday roast was more than generous and certainly filled a 9yr old (though he did leave room for pudding)!

Very enjoyable meal. We enjoyed a haddock and chips and a scampi and chips and split and shared. Beautifully cooked and delicious to boot. Prompt service even though a busy night and staff were polite and friendly.

Food and service were very good. I visit here often and it's always good food. I highly recommend the steaks, chips, fish, chicken kievs, steak puddings.... but not all at once ;-)

Great food, nice atmosphere. It was busy which is always a good sign and I’d definitely return. Friendly staff, nice choice of meals and not over priced.

Always good food. Table was booked for 7pm on a Friday night, so I was a bit disappointed to see (and hear!) tired kids running and screaming about. I know this is down to the parents and not the staff at The Alston but it detracted from the nice dining experience. The staff are great though and one member of staff tried to shepherd the kids into one area and give them some colouring to do. Nice effort.....will always keep going though because the food is good and the staff are great.

Very good food. Certainly a cut above most pub food. Good atmosphere and friendly service. It is nice to visit a pub which is busy and thriving. Also when the proprietor takes time to speak to his customers and ask how their meal is in a genuine way makes you feel that he really wants you to have a good experience. I strongly recommend that you visit the Alston.

Unassuming pub restaurant with a welcoming feel. We were seated quickly and drinks orders taken. Menu is fair and food orders were a bit slow to arrive. Food was hot and tasty. Cappuccino needs work. All in all though a very pleasant luncheon.
