The Bank Restaurant & Bar

The Bank is a premier dining destination just over the bridge and down Durham Rd from central Newcastle and Gateshead. But the locals of Lowfell may not want too many people finding about their favourite spot, housed in a beautiful old stone building that has stood since 1840, formerly housing the local bank. This is where the Bank gets its name, and the surrounding regions are where the Bank gets its phenomenal 21-day-aged steaks, with prime beef provided by farmers across Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland. Where the rest of the inspiration comes from for this amazing menu is a mystery - occasionally it’s from pub tradition, like a slow-braised steak and ale pie; sometimes it’s from international flavours, like Asian-infused tian of quinoa; and often it could be something plucked from the imagination - try the watermelon and chilli iced parfait and you will be thankful for human ingenuity.
